Sam Barlow, the mastermind behind the acclaimed horror game “Immortality,” has announced two new projects that are sure to send shivers down your spine. Project C and Project D, both shrouded in mystery, promise to take players on terrifying journeys into the unknown.
Project C, described as a “sci-fi horror game” in “the tradition of Immortality” with what could be “the chunkiest mechanic we’ve come up with within this kind of non-linear space.” Barlow, known for his innovative storytelling techniques, has remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the game’s “chunky mechanic” other than hinting that it refers to it being a “puzzle box.”
For those yearning for a more traditional horror experience, Project D has them covered. This third-person survival horror game draws inspiration from the iconic “Silent Hill: Shattered Memories,” a game lauded for its psychological horror and innovative use of unreliable narrators. Players can expect a chilling atmosphere, unsettling characters, and a story that will keep them guessing until the very end.
Both Project C and Project D are being developed by Half Mermaid, a studio founded in 2017 by Bafta winning writer-director Barlow.
With his proven track record of crafting unsettling and thought-provoking horror experiences, horror fans can rest assured that these new projects are in good hands, and expect nothing short of a terrifying and unforgettable experience.
The announcements were made to coincide with Immortality’s release on PlayStation 5.
Immortality won the VSGA for Best Adventure in 2022, and in our summary of critics consensus, we wrote that it “rasises the bar for the FMV / interactive movie genre” and was “another mesmerizing piece of storytelling from Sam Barlow.” In addition to the PlayStation 5, Immortality is also available on the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
