Best Headset: Microsoft Wireless Xbox Series X|S Headset

There are a ton of excellent third-party headsets compatible with the Xbox Series X|S, but you can’t go wrong with this official headset from Microsoft. This a nice-sounding headset – providing support for Windows Sonic, Dolby, Atmos and DTS Headphone: X – with rotating ear cups that controls the volume and game/chat balance. It also has a very stable audio connection, a good mic, and a broad feature set for the price. The combination of Bluetooth and chat-mix balance, for example, is a feature typically found in more expensive headsets.

Best Controller: Xbox Wireless Controller

If budget is no concern, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is the best of the best, but the core Xbox Wireless Controller is a fantastic wireless controller in its own right. Available in multiple colors, the Xbox Wireless Controller is comfortable, has nice button action, and can last for up to 40 hours of active gaming use on a couple of AA batteries. If you’d rather use rechargeable batteries, opt for the Xbox-branded Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable, which fully charges in under 4 hours and can provide up to 30 hours of battery life per charge.

Best Storage Expansion: Seagate 1TB SSD

The Xbox Series X comes with a 1TB internal SSD drive and the Xbox Series S offers a 512GB drive, but game file sizes continue to increase, and unless you’re diligently uninstalling games you no longer need, you’re likely going to fill those up quickly. Thankfully, Microsoft has accounted for that, and partnered with Seagate to give users the ability to expand their consoles storage with memory card-style SSDs that can be slotted into a specially designed port.
