WarioWare: Move It’s motion controls inject creative chaos into an already bonkers formula that’s great for friends and parties, even if the high wears off a little too quickly.
WarioWare: Move It! is a much-needed reset for a series that’s long struggled to hit the creative heights of its Nintendo Wii entry. A return to the physical fun of WarioWare: Smooth Moves is just what the doctor ordered, making for one last must-own Switch party game that’s not afraid to cut loose. Though it takes two steps forward, it’s a step back from Get It Together’s most ingenious modes, leaving more space for Nintendo to perfect its wackiest series.
WarioWare: Move It! offers up plenty of hilarious, colorful, and creative microgames — it’s just a shame that players will have to contend with an unwavering dedication to motion controls and a story mode that only lasts a couple of hours.

Atomix | Alberto Desfassiaux | 85 / 100 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a almost flawless sequel for WarioWare: Smooth Moves. The way the game uses the unique features of the Joy-Con controllers, is simply brilliant. | Read review |
Attack of the Fanboy | Thomas Cunliffe | 3 / 5 stars | 11-09-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! utilizes the Joy-Con to its full potential, delivering the quick-paced, quirky fun you’d expect from such a brilliant franchise. While Story mode is a blast, the game only offers a few hours of content outside its clever but somewhat disappointing multiplayer. Move It! won’t replace a certain red-hatted plumber’s party and family game staples any time soon, but Intelligent System’s creativity is something to be applauded. | Read review |
But Why Tho? | Jason Flatt | 8 / 10 | 11-07-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a great entry in the series, making excellent use of the JoyCons’ high-definition motion controls in classic absurd Wario fashion. | Read review |
Capsule Computers | Dustin Spencer | 7 / 10 | 11-11-2023 | Wario brings back motion to the Switch in Warioware: Move It! for a fun, if not dated experience. | Read review |
Cerealkillerz | Julian Bieder | 8.4 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | The WarioWare series has been around since the Nintendo DS, but with Motion Control the microgames have become a real blast. As on the Nintendo Wii, it’s just huge fun to face the crazy challenges that last only seconds, in crazy poses in front of the screen. It’s too bad that the single-player mode is already over before it has really begun. But instead, other game modes for single, party and multiplayer challenges can be found in WarioWare Move It! to round off the amusement. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Zubi Khan | 7 / 10 | 11-04-2023 | WarioWare: Move it! feels like a return to form for the series, giving fans plenty to chew on as they make their way through over 200 microgames in a new island setting. | Read review |
Checkpoint Gaming | Edie W-K | 8.5 / 10 | 10-30-2023 | With or without friends, WarioWare: Move it! will have you smiling at every turn. Featuring hundreds of new and quirky micro-games, Move it! gets you on your feet and moving once more by striking silly poses with the Joy-Cons, which feels (mostly) natural and accurate. It’s not the kind of game you can play for hours, but it will be one to return to any time you need a pick-me-up. Its sense of humor and goofy mechanics will stay fresh for years to come. Finally, this is the successor to Smooth Moves we’ve been waiting for. | Read review |
COGconnected | James Paley | 85 / 100 | 11-01-2023 | While I’m impressed by the technical tricks, WarioWare is just… really funny. It’s awesome fun making a fool of yourself in front of friends and loved ones. It’s even better dragging them into the mix. The variety of games is delightful, and the various poses are well-crafted. But they’re also funny. Honestly, if you take away nothing else from this review, my job is still done. WarioWare: Move It! is a hilarious good time and you’d be a fool to let it pass you by. Though this season is crammed with excellent games, the latest WarioWare title is perfect for that party-style vibe. | Read review |
Cubed3 | Jorge Ba-oh | 8 / 10 | 11-06-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a return to form for the barmy microgame curator Wario. With his group of familiar friends, odd concepts and motion controls, it’s back to basics! There are some slight teething issues with motion controls, but one that may come with practice. A whole host of fun microgames, multiplayer modes and new ideas build on what’s made the series a hit with fans. Those who shy away from motion controls would likely prefer Get it Together!, also on Nintendo Switch, instead. Fans of that classic WarioWare feel will be right at home with WarioWare: Move It! | Read review |
Daily Mirror | Scott McCrae | 4 / 5 stars | 11-01-2023 | Simply put, WarioWare: Move It! is the best the series has been since the Nintendo Wii’s WarioWare: Smooth Moves way back in 2006, with Nintendo opting to take a simpler approach than some of the convoluted entries like 2021’s WarioWare: Get It Together. While the same issues present in most entries persist, it’s undeniable that WarioWare’s core gameplay loop is still as fun as ever, over 20 years down the line. | Read review |
Destructoid | Chris Carter | 7 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | Most WarioWare fans will likely want to pull the trigger on this one, but I don’t blame you for being wary. There’s a lot of give and take here, especially with the heavy motion focus. | Read review |
Dexerto | James Busby | 4 / 5 stars | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is the embodiment of fun. It’s the kind of game that pulls people together, quickly turning the quietest gatherings into laughter-filled frenzies. If you’re expecting a meaty gameplay experience that will have you hooked for hundreds of hours, then you’ll definitely come away disappointed. | Read review |

Digitally Downloaded | Matt Sainsbury | 2.5 / 5 stars | 11-02-2023 | Nintendo’s had a bumper year, so I’ll forgive it for some filler (especially when there’s also the Super Mario RPG remake on the way yet). WarioWare: Move It! achieves what it sets out to by providing players with a bunch of microgames that use the Joy-Cons and motion control in an inventive and silly manner. You’ll enjoy the boundless creativity in coming up with so many microgame ideas. In addition, you’ll enjoy the colour and humour at first. And then, about an hour later, you’ll be done with it for good. | Read review |
Eurogamer | Tom Phillips | Not Recommended | 11-01-2023 | Nintendo serves up another bumper blink-and-you-lose blitz in WarioWare: Move It!, but the package is let down by the need to fumble with often-fussy motion controls. | Read review |
Eurogamer.pt | Bruno Galvão | 3 / 5 stars | 11-06-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! It’s eccentric, dashing and truly crazy, an entirely different side of the Japanese company that is so easily, and wrongly, accused of a one-dimensional approach to its projects. The fast-paced microgames and motion controls took me back to previous generations, and if I was laughing while playing, those watching couldn’t resist having fun with my figures. Solo, it might be a hard title to justify, but with friends and family, it’s as energetic as it is eccentric. | Read review |
GAMES.CH | Benjamin Braun | 70 / 100 | 11-01-2023 | With its huge amount of compact and fast mini-games WarioWare: Move it! is an entertaining party game. Solo players can also have some fun in the short story mode, but only when you have at least a second set of Joy-Cons to play together or against others, the game is able to deliver a notable long term motivation. | Read review |
GameSpot | Steve Watts | 6 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It maintains the series’ zany sense of humor and experimentation, but it often asks more than the Joy-Con motion controls can handle. | Read review |
GamesRadar+ | Hope Bellingham | 4 / 5 stars | 11-01-2023 | “I’ve loved letting go and embarrassing myself in the name of fun” | Read review |
GamingTrend | Jack Zustiak | 60 / 100 | 11-12-2023 | Everything about Move It! feels like it should work, and when it does it’s a lot of fun. The problem is that doesn’t always work. Some rotten apples in the microgame selection and the Joy-Con hardware’s awkward fit with the overall concept muddy up an otherwise good time. Given the discombobulating nature of WarioWare, some muddying can be acceptable up to a point, but Move It! occasionally crosses the line from being playfully antagonistic to frustrating for the wrong reasons. | Read review |
God is a Geek | Adam Cook | 9 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a hilarious, bonkers game that shouldn’t be missed, and the best WarioWare title since Smooth Moves and the earlier handheld titles. | Read review |
Hobby Consolas | Alberto Lloret | 85 / 100 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! recovers the crazy and irreverent essence of the series with a new installment that puts the entire weight of the gameplay on the JoyCon, and the absurd poses, with good results. Add multiplayer modes to bore, from Story mode to a variety of co-op and competitive experiences, and you’ve got FUN at its best. | Read review |
IGN | Travis Northup | 7 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is another amusing entry in the series, with creative multiplayer modes making up for a roster of minigames that quickly become repetitive. | Read review |
IGN Italy | Andrea Peduzzi | 8.7 / 10 | 11-10-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a lovely game. The variety of challenges is really wide, while the Story is perfect for getting into the mood of the game. I would have appreciated an online multiplayer mode, but still, I had a lot of fun. | Read review |
IGN Spain | Raquel Morales | 8 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | Wario seeks to sneak into all the parties with a game with fun mechanics and very crazy microgames that knows how to take advantage of the unique features of the Switch with great precision. | Read review |
LevelUp | Santiago Villicaña | 7.8 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is exactly what you’d expect from this franchise: fast microgames with a lot of charisma, humor and fun. The use of the Joy Con is very creative, but in general, the game doesn’t do much to innovate. | Read review |
MonsterVine | Spencer Legacy | 4.5 / 5 stars | 11-09-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is another excellent entry to Nintendo’s strangest (and one of its most consistent) series. A couple of the games take a bit to get used to, but the variety of fast-paced and goofy microgames and modes provide everything you could want from a WarioWare game. | Read review |
Nintendo Life | PJ O’Reilly | 8 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is another great entry in this long-running franchise that brings back the motion-controlled mayhem whilst giving you plenty of ways to enjoy its loony fun with family and friends. There are lots of fun modes to dig into and unlock here, the microgames are as daft and colourful as ever, and, as long as you can make peace with things not being quite as fun solo, it’s really hard to knock the chaotically silly vibe of this most excellent party game. | Read review |
Nintendo News | nintendojam | 8 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It!, much like its predecessors, is meant to be enjoyed in short bursts, and at that, it excels greatly. Although the Story Mode is short, taking only a couple of hours to finish, the replayability of the microgames and side modes is what really makes WarioWare worthwhile. Going for high-scores is fun even by yourself, but getting competitive with friends is even better. With over 200 microgames to learn and master, WarioWare: Move It! is an excellent party game that gets your heart beating and your blood pumping, while also giving more than a few laughs along the way. As long as you go in with the expectation of it being a silly microgame collection that doesn’t take itself too seriously, WarioWare: Move It! is a great time! | Read review |
PCMag | Jordan Minor | 3.5 / 5 stars | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It’s motion controls inject creative chaos into an already bonkers formula that’s great for friends and parties, even if the high wears off a little too quickly. | Read review |
Press Start | James Mitchell | 9 / 10 | 11-02-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a return to form (pun intended) for the WarioWare series that feels long overdue. It cleverly utilises the unique capabilities of the Joy-Con in ways that haven’t been done before, all while remaining both endearing and funny. While the simplicity of Party Mode is both its greatest strength and weakness, WarioWare: Move It! is easily WarioWare at its best and the most fun you’ll have looking goofy. | Read review |
Prima Games | Shaun Cichacki | 8.5 / 10 | 11-08-2023 | WarioWare Move It! is a delight in its purest form. For those hungry to relive their childhood, to those who have been craving the madcap antics of Wario and friends over the span of some less-than-stellar titles, this is the return to form we’ve been waiting for. | Read review |
Saudi Gamer | Unknown | 7 / 10 | 11-06-2023 | After a rather unsuccessful change in direction Wario Ware is back to successfully milking one gimmick for 200 games straight. | Read review |
SECTOR.sk | Michal Korec | 7.5 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | Get moving, lots of mini-games awaits you! Some are more micro than mini, anyway there is enough for a solo player and for a party with friends. | Read review |
Shacknews | Ozzie Mejia | 7 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | Whether WarioWare: Move It ends up on your shelf is going to depend on how much you like motion controls. Those looking for a more traditional, button-based affair will want to stick with WarioWare: Get It Together. Those who want to enjoy a more physical activity that takes advantage of the Joy-Con controller’s capabilities in a party setting will want to veer more in this direction. The Story Mode’s samey structure and frenetic frustrations might turn a few players off, but the Party Mode rarely misses. | Read review |
Siliconera | Brent Koepp | 7 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It is a frantic collection of minigames that is an absolute joy to play with friends. However, its heavy reliance on motion controls may come with some drawbacks for certain players. | Read review |
Slant Magazine | Paul Attard | 2.5 / 5 stars | 11-07-2023 | Move It! can only be played in an environment where players are able to move around freely, as there’s no portable option available. Since the Switch’s biggest technical innovation is its ability to inhabit both the handheld and home console sphere, one can’t help but feel like, by avoiding the alternative, Intelligent Systems is trying to take the easy way out here and simply build on what it’s done before. But the developer has only provided a slight variation of a better, more thought-out experience. Ultimately, Move It! ends up sharing far too many similarities with its overweight, zigzag-shaped mustachioed protagonist, as both are crude, frequently annoying, at times entertaining, and, above all, carbon copies of something else that’s far more polished. | Read review |
SpazioGames | Silvio Mazzitelli | 8.4 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | Crazy and fun, WarioWare: Move It! is a party game that will make you laugh like never before, if you can play that with friends. | Read review |
Stevivor | Steve Wright | 7.5 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | If you’re looking for more mini-games on your Nintendo Switch, or have fond memories of Smooth Moves over on the Wii, this one’s for you. Just make sure to stretch afterward, especially if you’re saddled with a bunch of squat poses. | Read review |
TheGamer | Jade King | 3.5 / 5 stars | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a complicated game to talk about, because at its heart the whole thing is so deceptively simple. You follow simple instructions presented on screen to stay alive and complete bizarre tasks, all of which are framed by adorable characters and fun stories which aren’t important, but remain stylish and lovable enough to ensure this cute package feels complete, despite its short campaign length and a reliance on local multiplayer to draw the most fun out of it. Nintendo has repeatedly said this is a full successor to Smooth Moves on the Wii, and I’d be lying if it doesn’t capture the same joy that comes from waggling WiiMotes around in my living room as a kid. | Read review |
TheSixthAxis | Stefan L | 7 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! calls back to the early excitement of the Wii and motion controlled gaming. There’s a ton of daft and inventive microgames here (with a slightly surprising amount of bum shaking), that’s great for solo, co-op and multiplayer, but brace yourself for some wonky motion controls and fleetingly frustrating failures. | Read review |
VG247 | Alex Donaldson | Not Recommended | 11-03-2023 | Your mileage with WarioWare: Move It will inevitably vary. What do you want from this game? If you want the classic microgames experience, it isn’t really here. If you want a killer multiplayer game to play with the family over the holiday season (assuming everyone is able-bodied), it’ll be ideal. I can’t wait to play this more with friends. But I don’t see any reason to boot it on my own again any time soon. | Read review |
Video Chums | A.J. Maciejewski | 7.5 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | The pose-based gameplay of WarioWare: Move It! sets it apart from previous entries and it all works out impressively well with mostly intuitive controls and a super-fun co-op Story mode. Wario’s moves aren’t quite as smooth as they were back in the day, though. 💃 | Read review |
WayTooManyGames | Oliver Shellding | 7.5 / 10 | 11-05-2023 | Personally, I really WarioWare: Move It and think it’s the best of the console-exclusive WarioWare titles. It’s visually pleasing and poppy, with plenty of voicework and excellent art moments of hilarity to keep young and old giggling. | Read review |
Wccftech | Nathan Birch | 5.5 / 10 | 11-01-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a touch too clever for its own good, taking a concept that’s best when kept simple and drowning it in fussy unreliable motion controls and overelaborate microgames. There are still some flashes of that old anarchic fun here, but even those who have loved past WarioWare games may find this vacation-themed entry a bad trip. | Read review |
We Got This Covered | Shaan Joshi | 3 / 5 stars | 11-02-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! offers up plenty of hilarious, colorful, and creative microgames — it’s just a shame that players will have to contend with an unwavering dedication to motion controls and a story mode that only lasts a couple of hours. | Read review |
WellPlayed | Mark Isaacson | 8.5 / 10 | 11-02-2023 | Finally, a Switch game that gets why motion control can be a blast under the right circumstances. WarioWare: Move it! hits all the high notes and continues a fine tradition in ridiculousness. | Read review |
XGN.nl | Solange Leijten | 7 / 10 | 11-03-2023 | WarioWare: Move It! is a great icebreaker for everyone, regardless of experience level. The game guarantees a unique experience with friends or family every time when played in multiplayer mode. Let go of your guilt and groove to Wario Inc.’s sounds and styles. | Read review |
About WarioWare: Move It!
Strike a pose with a multitude of motion-based microgames in a brand-new entry in the WarioWare series! Grab a pair of Joy-Con controllers and get moving as you gently shake, punch, dance, wiggle, and even curtsey through over 200 lightning-fast microgames (minigames that last just a few hilarious seconds). A second player can use another set of Joy-Con controllers to join the treasure-guarding, sheep-twirling fun. Up to 4 players, each with one Joy-Con controller, can laugh out loud in the local Party Mode’s minigames like a dicey board game with Wario-style rules.
