Warhammer 3 is Creative Assembly’s most maximalist, chaotic, and arguably best game to date. But it’ll ask a lot of you in return.
Total War: Warhammer 3 has the most diverse and most fun ways to play with friends the series has ever seen, even if network issues can still be a bit troublesome.
If Total War Warhammer 3 is the beginning of the end for Creative Assembly’s fantasy series, then it’s going out on a high note. The game takes several steps forward in how the campaign works, how it builds toward climactic battles and then how those battles take place, and there’s plenty of quality of life improvements for the Total War series as a whole.

CGMagazine | Preston Dozsa | 9 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | This all goes to say that Total War: Warhammer III is a great conclusion to a series that has reinvigorated what is possible from the Total War franchise. It’s epic, chaotic, and makes me want to wage campaigns against Chaos again and again. | Read review |
Chalgyr’s Game Room | Robert Risdon | 8 / 10 | 02-22-2022 | In Conclusion, Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer III is their Warhammer-franchise swan song and it exits stage left in a massive, yet dignified manner. | Read review |
Checkpoint Gaming | Unknown | 8.5 / 10 | 02-18-2022 | All in all, Total War: Warhammer III is an excellent addition to the series and forms a great conclusion to the epic Warhammer trilogy. It has intriguing mechanics and gorgeous visuals, and it comes with a great variety of units, factions, and heroes, along with plenty of engaging battles. If you enjoy the Total War franchise and go in for a bit of Warhammer lore, this is an engaging experience with a lot of variety, and is not to be missed. | Read review |
COGconnected | Mark Steighner | 90 / 100 | 03-08-2022 | Total War: Warhammer 3 is the perfect culmination to a trilogy of generally excellent games. The third installment has both a must-play prologue and story campaign that is fast-paced and takes the gameplay in new directions. Long after the campaign is over, quality of life improvements and the new setting guarantee a long life for single-player skirmishes and multiplayer games. Total War: Warhammer 3 is a winner for both casual and hardcore Warhammer fans or any real-time strategy player looking for a game with depth. | Read review |

Gameblog | Unknown | 8 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War Warhammer III is a nice final episode even if it doesn’t revolutionize the license. The new factions offer a lot of possibilities to play differently and this is a very good point in a Total War episode. The multiplayer is totally transformed through the end of the turn-based game and it’s surely one of the most important positive points of the game. | Read review |
GameGrin | Neil Hetherington | 8.5 / 10 | 02-19-2022 | Another solid entry into the franchise in what should be the exciting conclusion of the trilogy. Blood for the Blood God and all that good stuff! | Read review |
GameMAG | Unknown | 8 / 10 | 02-27-2022 | Total War: Warhammer III is a true gift to any fans of Total War series and Warhammer franchise. It’s not a revolutionary game, but the one with many unique features and deep interconnected lore. Sadly, optimization is far from the best, and if you look at Rome II it can definitely sour the whole experience. | Read review |
Gamersky | Unknown | 8.8 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | As the final work of the Total War: Warhammer series, Total War: Warhammer III not only brings a lot of new content, but also improves and perfects the original content, which makes it the game with the best experience among Total War series so far. However, the slightly boring mid-to-late process, the occasional vicious bugs and other “old problems” left the game with some room for improvement. All in all, in a world where RTS is scarce, Total War: Warhammer III is a great choice for both long-time fans of the Total War series and newcomers to the Chinese-style camp of Cathay. | Read review |
GameSpot | David Wildgoose | 6 / 10 | 03-02-2022 | Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer 3 is a spectacular fantasy battle simulator with a flawed campaign. | Read review |
GameWatcher | Bogdan Robert Mateș | 9 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War: Warhammer 3’s only major “downside” comes from it being the final part of an established trilogy that (successfully) iterates on its predecessor’s structure without changing it fundamentally. If you’re not a fan of its streamlined empire management, fantasy setting, and sometimes floaty-feeling combat, there’s not much here that will change your mind. | Read review |

GRYOnline.pl | Paweł Musiolik | 8.5 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War: Warhammer 3 is a worthy finale to the trilogy. IGN Italy | Claudio Chianese | 9.5 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War: Warhammer III is sheer fun. Not a particularly deep game, nor a very innovative one, but a game capable of doing what it’s meant to do: to provide an enjoyable framework for spectacular, breathtaking fantasy battles. | Read review |
IGN Spain | David Oña | 9 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War: Wahammer 3 closes a trilogy that is one of the best adaptations ever made to the strategy genre. JVL | Kikitoès | 8 / 10 | 02-18-2022 | Total War Warhammer 3 is a very solid sequel and Creative Assembly is once again putting considerable effort into offering a wide choice of gameplay and great replayability. | Read review |
Kotaku | Luke Plunkett | Recommended | 02-14-2022 | This is an enormous bummer, because everything else about this game is so good! In so many ways this is the best Total War game ever made, the latest example of a series that has spent the last 3-4 big releases (we don’t talk about the Saga games here) successfully refining a decades-old formula to keep it fresh and interesting. It’s a shame, then, that having come so far in so many respects this time around, Warhammer III stumbles right where it matters most: at the end. | Read review |
M3 | Billy Ekblom | 8 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War: Warhammer 3 is an incredibly ambitious further development of an already massive concept. A tribute to the fantasy and strategy games as a genre. The campaign is nicely framed, but it doesn’t sit well in our opinion. It is characterized by some monotony and unnecessarily muddy final battles. But there is no doubt that Creative Assembly has topped the form and will carve the whole thing together into something special. | Read review |
Metro GameCentral | GameCentral | 9 / 10 | 02-15-2022 | An inspired ending to the Warhammer trilogy that rather than just adding new factions makes a host of clever additions and changes to the gameplay and structure, in what is one of the great achievements in modern strategy gaming. | Read review |
MMORPG.com | Kevin Chick | 8.5 / 10 | 03-08-2022 | Creative Assembly has done a great job with the final entry in the series. I am really enjoying Total War: Warhammer III, but it may not be for everyone since specific mechanics, like the spawning chaos gates, could become tedious for some players as the campaign progresses. The story could also not resonate with some players. I personally have enjoyed the prologue and campaigns, but I could see it missing the mark depending on how interested someone is in the daemons and the Choas Gods. The game does have some technical problems, and I am a touch disappointed with parts of the enemy AI. But the single-player story, new features, and solid multiplayer offerings are top-notch. If you are a fan of the previous games or this genre, this is a must-play title. | Read review |
PC Gamer | Fraser Brown | 90 / 100 | 02-14-2022 | A brilliant final act with the series’ most inventive and unusual factions yet. | Read review |
PC Invasion | Jason Rodriguez | 10 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | While it does have some notable flaws, namely a somewhat messier campaign progression, Total War: Warhammer III still manages to impress. With multiple factions and legendary lords to choose from, along with a plethora of improvements to existing mechanics, you’re bound to have one hell of a good time. | Read review |
PCGamesN | Richard Scott-Jones | 9 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | A triumphant step forward for Total War on almost every front, boasting not just the best and most diverse single-player campaigns ever, but a revolution in multiplayer too. | Read review |
Polygon | Ewan Wilson | Recommended | 02-14-2022 | This new fortification system is also present in siege battles and small settlement engagements, and it’s probably the biggest change to the overall Total War formula. Capturing points on the map builds up your resources, which you can then spend on fortifying defensible areas. It’s a compelling tactical addition, bringing Total War closer to other real-time strategy games where it’s not just about wiping out an army, but capturing points, defending them, and using resources wisely. It does, however, also take away from what Total War battles always seemed to be about: careful, tactical positioning within a semi-realistic environment. | Read review |
Rock, Paper, Shotgun | Nate Crowley | Recommended | 02-14-2022 | Though best considered as the final part of an excessive strategy megagame, Total War: Warhammer 3 is a heavyweight in its own right. A little too much RTS grind in the midgame is easily outweighed by transformative changes to multiplayer, sieges, diplomacy and more. | Read review |
SECTOR.sk | Branislav Kohút | 8.5 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Warhammer III successfully continues to present the blend of strategic gameplay and popular fantasy world with new races and a decent story. | Read review |
Shacknews | Chris Jarrard | 9 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War: Warhammer 3 is a big game by nearly every measure. It hosts big battles across enormous campaign maps, contains multiple armies with unique units, and effortlessly shifts between the Old World and Chaos Realms. It will get even bigger post-launch. It features absolutely gorgeous art in its many cutscenes that marry lush animation with the classic fantasy oil painting style and often hilarious voiceovers. It represents a giant bow on a gift Creative Assembly has been working on for years and is sure to be a can’t miss for Total War and Warhammer buffs alike. Will it change minds for those who bounced off the series in the past? Not really, but this one is for the fans, and I’d wager most folks would be delighted to receive this kind of attention for their favorite IP. | Read review |
Sirus Gaming | Jarren Navarrete | 9 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | Total War: Warhammer III is an excellent game for the strategic mind. TrustedReviews | Ryan Jones | Recommended | 02-15-2022 | We haven’t played Total War: Warhammer 3 enough to give it a final score just yet, but this is still a very promising game after 10-hours of play, with the new factions featuring great new mechanics to make every playthrough feel completely different. The story campaign has also seen improvements thanks to the new ‘survival battles’, while it’s also great to see Creative Assembly improve diplomacy and making it less intimidating for newcomers. | Read review |
Twinfinite | Giuseppe Nelva | 4 / 5 stars | 02-14-2022 | Ultimately, it’s a great game that will almost inevitably become even better with time, but the launch package won’t disappoint fans of either franchise involved. Especially Warhammer Fans are in for a treat, with new lore and new heroes providing a ray of hope for a better future after quite a few bleak years. | Read review |
VG247 | Josh Broadwell | Recommended | 02-14-2022 | Warhammer 3 is, frankly, an incredible package. It somehow manages to deliver multiple unique and satisfying campaigns, mostly without sacrificing their quality and depth in the process. | Read review |
WayTooManyGames | Thomas Medina | 10 / 10 | 02-17-2022 | Creative Assembly can rest easy knowing they have created something truly magnificent. Or for that matter, even needs to be. | Read review |
Wccftech | Unknown | 9.5 / 10 | 02-14-2022 | As the culmination of the Total War: Warhammer trilogy, the story-focused approach combined with massive multiple-part battles feels like the right thing to do. While aspects can make you feel rushed, this is undeniably intentional as you’re in a race against all other factions on the map, and the more I play it, the more I like it. The battles feel genuinely epic, with even regular ones seeing significant improvement thanks to excellent design. AI improvements on the campaign map, combined with the unique features of factions, also add another layer to the game. There are a few niggles here and there; the AI has issues during battles. Corruption on the campaign map also feels imbalanced, but while these can be irritating (corruption mainly), they are minor issues in the grand scheme. All in all, Total War: Warhammer III is an excellent game. | Read review |

Zoomg | محمد جواد طهماسبی زاده | 9 / 10 | 02-27-2022 | Total War: Warhammer 3 is an evolved, better and more engaging version of the previous two versions of this trilogy that can give you dozens of hours of challenging and beautiful gameplay. | Read review |
About Total War: Warhammer III
Far beyond the world and its petty wars there exists a dimension of pure, malevolent magic: The Realm of Chaos. It is a terrible place, incomprehensible to the mortal mind. It whispers promises of power, but to behold it is to be seduced by it. To relinquish your soul to it. To become it. The four Ruinous Powers rule over this place, ever seeking to slip their bonds and engulf the world in a tide of daemonic corruption. Nurgle, the plague god; Slaanesh, the lord of excess; Tzeentch, the changer of ways; and Khorne, the god of blood and slaughter. On the border between the worlds, two mighty kingdoms stand sentinel: the stern warriors of Kislev and the vast empire of Grand Cathay. But each is beset by its own trials, and now both have cause to cross the threshold and send their armies into the Realm of Chaos. The world stands on a precipice. A single push will plunge it into cataclysm. And there is one who schemes to achieve just that, an ancient figure who desires nothing less than to wield supreme power. But to succeed, he will need a champion… The coming conflict will engulf all. Will you conquer your daemons? Or command them?
