The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is truly an incredible masterpiece - minor design issues and technical flaws may keep it from being perfect, but The Witcher 3 will go down as one of the greatest games of the generation.

Arcade Sushi | Luke Brown | 9 / 10 | 05-21-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a massive and ambitious game, bursting at the seams with content. It’s a remarkable adventure, marred by its fair share of flaws. | Read review |
Attack of the Fanboy | Emily Speight | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-23-2015 | It’s a sprawling, ambitious, beautiful representation of a dark fantasy world, and games like this don’t come along often. By no means perfect, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt still one of the year’s biggest and best releases. | Read review |
AusGamers | Steve Farrelly | 10 / 10 | 05-13-2015 | The most stunning open-world ever created | Read review |
CGMagazine | Wayne Santos | 8.5 / 10 | 05-24-2015 | The Witcher III has a compelling plot, combined with some old school, complex game systems that encourage exploration, crafting and experimentation. | Read review |
Cheat Code Central | Matt Walker | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-20-2015 | Even with these complaints, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the best RPGs I have ever experienced in gaming. There’s so much to this adventure, you’d be missing out on a great experience if you pass it up. It’s absolutely perfect for the current gaming drought, but even if it had hit with a handful of other triple A titles, I would still stand by this being the best game of the year so far, and it’s going to be a tough one to beat. | Read review |
COGconnected | Trevor Houston | 90 / 100 | 05-25-2015 | There is no question The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt delivers a superb ‘Triple A’ RPG experience. Featuring some of the best story telling we have seen so far this year and an unforgettable, dynamic and vast open world, Witcher 3 stands as a must own for not only fans of the franchise but those looking for rich experience they can soak 100+ hours into. | Read review |
ComiConverse | Alan Stock | 5 / 5 stars | 09-04-2016 | The finest RPG in many years, with a vast open world that truly feels alive. Highly polished in every area and stuffed full of quality content, this game sets a new benchmark for the genre. | Read review |
Critical Hit | Alessandro Barbosa | 9.5 / 10 | 05-25-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an impeccable role-playing game, and one of the finest games ever created. Whether it’s as large as tracking the Wild Hunt or as small as delivering a love letter, The Witcher 3 makes Geralt’s actions count in the most incredible ways | Read review |
Cubed3 | Albert Lichi | 8 / 10 | 06-08-2015 | In a game where the action mechanics are roughly 65% of the game’s core gameplay, it is important to get these basic parts right and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt tragically fumbles. Good controls are the foundation of a quality game and anyone expecting good action here would be best to just put this white wolf out of his misery and bury him. | Read review |
Cultured Vultures | Darryl Edge | 7.5 / 10 | 10-15-2019 | The Witcher 3 is still an astounding game to be celebrated, but even if it’s one of the console’s considerably better ports, the Nintendo Switch version really isn’t the way to experience Wild Hunt. | Read review |
Darkstation | Garland Pan | 5 / 5 stars | 10-14-2019 | As a landmark title that other games have trouble matching even now, The Witcher 3 flourishes on the Nintendo Switch. With an immense amount of absolutely engaging content, a meaningful narrative, and a meticulously designed world to explore, there’s no doubt about the quality of the game. | Read review |
DarkZero | Dominic Sheard | 10 / 10 | 07-04-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is more than just an incredible game that successfully brings lush visuals, tactical combat and a captivating world untainted with the issues that games of similar nature have when building such huge open spaces. It is also a respectful closure for Geralt, the series and its fans. Not only is the world a phenomenal character, but the narrative, the fleshed out side content and the character building weaved into this adventure are all purely excellent. With the consequences of morality playing a big part in the outcome of Geralt’s adventure, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sets a new bar for video game writing, and will have players sharing tales of their adventure – in one of the best role-playing games released – for many months to come. | Read review |
Destructoid | Chris Carter | 8 / 10 | 05-12-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a huge step up from its predecessor, mostly because it manages to tell a more compelling and personal tale. At the same time, that intimate feel is juxtaposed against a gigantic, sprawling open-world adventure that may hit some snags along the way but still comes out on top. | Read review |
Digital Chumps | Eric Layman | 9 / 10 | 06-09-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an exhibition of lessons learned not only from CD Projeckt RED’s past work, but also from a spectrum of open-world and role-playing contemporaries. It’s expected for games of this nature to excel at taking your time away. What’s most impressive about The Witcher 3 is that rarely seems to waste it. | Read review |
Digital Spy | Liam Martin | 5 / 5 stars | 05-19-2015 | Fighting monsters, gathering information and carrying out side quests can be a slow process, but then The Witcher 3 isn’t a game you’ll want to rush. | Read review |
Digital Trends | Will Fulton | 4 / 5 stars | 06-02-2015 | The Witcher 3 is enormously ambitious, and a monumental game that engulfed us from start to finish. | Read review |
Digitally Downloaded | Matt S. | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-24-2015 | CD Projekt Red’s game is a blockbuster in every sense of the word, and it’s hard to imagine a world where there’s a bigger or more impressive blockbuster at work in the background that hasn’t even been announced yet but will still release in 2015. With that in mind, while I’m sure that Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed title is going to be a big improvement on last year’s, and EA and Activision both have excellent shooters to release by Christmas, with Zelda on the Wii U being pushed to next year I’m quite comfortable with calling this now: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to be the blockbuster game of the year. It’s not the most artful, the most intelligent, or the most important, but it’s certainly going to be the most spectacular. And I know for a lot of players out there, the spectacle is all that matters. | Read review |
DualShockers | Giuseppe Nelva | 9.5 / 10 | 05-18-2015 | While I ride, fight, smile, cry and love as Geralt of Rivia, I’m happy to be a gamer. I truly am. | Read review |

EGM | Andrew Fitch | 9.5 / 10 | 06-01-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is far more than a fantasy role-playing game. It’s an amazingly fleshed-out world that rewards careful, thoughtful exploration. CD Projekt RED didn’t just deliver on their promise to craft an open world worthy of author Andrzej Sapkowski’s lore—they greatly exceeded it. | Read review |
Eurogamer | Oli Welsh | Recommended | 05-17-2015 | It will last you months, yet not waste your time. Above all, it has a vivid, enduring personality, something that is exceedingly rare among its breed of mega-budget open-world epics (and that will probably be rarer still once Hideo Kojima and Konami part ways later this year). For my money, it’s the greatest role-playing game in years. | Read review |
Fextralife | Castielle | 9 / 10 | 06-06-2015 | It incorporates so many different elements from so many games that it stands alone as it its own unique sub-genre. CDPR really created a masterpiece with this game, and while the combat can be a bit lacking at times and the controls are just frankly frustrating, they aren’t enough of a blemish in the slightest to keep me from recommending this game to anyone. | Read review |
Forbes | Erik Kain | 9 / 10 | 07-12-2015 | All told, I give the game a Buy in my Buy/Hold/Sell ranking. For all its flaws—and I realize that I’ve listed many—it is one of the most sprawling, magnificent solo RPGs ever made. It does too little to fix its mechanical problems, and focuses too much on creating an open world, but the quality of its quest design, world-building, and wonderful (if too large) cast of characters makes it a game that no RPG fan should miss. | Read review |
Game Debate | Stuart Thomas | 9.5 / 10 | 05-30-2015 | I’m still far from the end. I will check in with further thoughts as I progress, but at this point I can unhesitatingly recommend the Witcher III as yet another on the crammed top shelf of excellent RPGs we’ve seen in the past 18 months. Buy it, buy it, buy it. | Read review |

Game Rant | Christopher Gates | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-29-2015 | ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ is far from perfect, but despite its flaws, Geralt’s final adventure is 2015’s strongest candidate for Game of the Year so far. | Read review |
Game Revolution | Jonathan Leack | 3.5 / 5 stars | 05-19-2015 | Early on in the adventure it’s easy to feel captivated by the sheer scale of it all, but as its shortcomings come to light the attention that it worked so hard to capture can become lost. | Read review |
GameCrate | Nicholas Scibetta | 8.8 / 10 | 05-15-2015 | If you’re at all a fan of action RPGs and big open worlds, you’ll find a lot to love in The Witcher 3. | Read review |
Gamefa | Amirmehdi Namjoo | 9 / 10 | 10-23-2019 | After about 4 years, The Witcher 3 is still a great RPG game. The amount of content in this game is simply huge. This amount of content, along with deep gameplay mechanics, astounding visual art and dulcet music coupled with epic tracks make this game fantastic. The Switch port is a technical achievement for the developers and also looks good if you want to play in handheld mode, but it has some notable differences with other platforms that especially make the game, not the best option. If you need the portability of Switch for this game, then don’t hesitate and buy it, but for playing this on a TV or monitor, I suggest going with other platforms | Read review |
GameGrin | Steven John Dawson | 10 / 10 | 05-27-2015 | A huge open world, filled to the brim with life, death and everything in between. It truly is a sight to behold. CD Projekt Red have done great things with this title and RPGs all-round should take note. | Read review |
Gameplanet | James Cullinane | 10 / 10 | 05-14-2015 | The Witcher 3 is a superb example of world building and an instant classic in the RPG genre. Even the odd bug and some meat-and-potato systems can’t hold CD Projekt’s latest back from full marks. | Read review |
Gamers Heroes | Johnny Hurricane | 9 / 10 | 06-22-2015 | The Witcher 3 does have some minor flaws but ultimately is a game every RPG fan should play this year. This game is easily going to be a contender for Game Of The Year in 2015. | Read review |
GamesBeat | Gavin Greene | 88 / 100 | 05-11-2015 | Playing The Witcher 3 with an eye for grand strategy can be both a densely engrossing and mechanically frustrating, overlong adventure. When played one move at a time, however, Wild Hunt is the supreme alchemical distillation of the role-playing experience. It’s a bleakly human play at the heart of a dark fantasy. | Read review |

GameWatcher | Chris Capel | 9.6 / 10 | 05-29-2015 | Those niggles aside, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an absolute triumph and the best open-world RPG around, maybe even the best altogether. The main story stays interesting, the side-stories are better than the main plots from most entire games, the characters and writing are wonderful, and the acting is massively improved from the last two games. | Read review |
GameZone | Mike Splechta | 9.5 / 10 | 06-08-2015 | The world and characters come to life in CDPR’s conclusion to The Witcher trilogy. A few minor bugs can’t ruin what is otherwise a masterful game. If only the combat was slightly better | Read review |

This game has got characters that you actually care about, a story that is very engaging from the get go and almost flawless gaming mechanics. Kill Screen | Chris Breault | 87 / 100 | 06-09-2015 | Comparison to The Witcher 3 would embarrass almost any RPG. It excels at everything most games suck at, from comic timing to narrative follow-through. It has the most expressive faces, the best drunken banter, the funniest throwaway gags, the most casual sex, and the deftest camera movements. But its best trick is to mold narrative from the materials that games have lately used as a sort of flavorless stuffing. In almost every side-quest and monster-hunting contract you undertake, there are telltale signs of someone at CD Projekt Red actually giving a s. | Read review |

PCGamesN | Fraser Brown | 9 / 10 | 05-26-2015 | Perhaps The Witcher 3 could have done with another month or so of extra development to work out the kinks, but even without the extra time it’s an enormously impressive game that proves, in case there was any doubt, that gargantuan games don’t need to be stuffed with forgettable filler guff. Any worries that, by making the game open world, CD Projekt Red were just following popular trends should be set aside, because The Witcher 3 dances to its own tune. There isn’t an RPG like it out there, not even its predecessors, and its uniqueness should be treasured. | Read review |

Player.it | Unknown | 10 / 10 | 05-27-2020 | A more than appreciable technical sector, a stratospheric soundtrack that I often find myself listening to separately, as well as the REDengine, the same engine used for The Witcher 2 and developed by the same CD Projekt RED, contribute to bring on our screens an unforgettable gaming experience, which currently, five years after its release, is still the reference standard against which we compare story-driven videogames, whether we like it or not. | Read review |
PlayStation LifeStyle | Chandler Wood | 9.5 / 10 | 05-18-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is truly an incredible masterpiece. The writing and building of the world alone should be lauded as some of the best in video games. Stories weave in and out of one another surprisingly. The consequences of every decision are far reaching and unpredictable while also making complete sense once they happen. The world is organic, dangerous, and fun to explore. There is a true sense of reward and accomplishment. While minor design choices keep it from being absolutely perfect, The Witcher 3 will go down as one of the best games of this generation of consoles. | Read review |

Its storytelling is superb, its combat is grippingly refined, and its often unforgiving nature only lends itself to a brilliantly rewarding experience. In an industry that’s flooded with so many by-the-book open world titles, Wild Hunt stands out as a true labour of love from a developer that’s uncompromisingly passionate about its creative freedom. CD Projekt Red has done a great job of bringing this saga to a close. The best part about all of this, however, is the fact that CD Projekt RED stayed true to its word. The Jimquisition | Jim Sterling | 8.5 / 10 | 05-19-2015 | Had it not been mired by bizarre lapses in design and a plethora of disturbing problems, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would be almost bloody perfect. TheSixthAxis | Aran Suddi | 9 / 10 | 05-22-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is easily one of the most engrossing games I’ve had the chance to play. The story and characters are well worth the experience alone, and the world expertly draws on the desire to explore with its massive scale. You never know what will greet you or beat you just a few seconds down the path, and that’s what is exciting about this game. There are some issues that will need to be improved. The combat is better than the Witcher 2 but isn’t quite there either, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the first game in a while that has held my attention for so long that I don’t notice the time pass. CD Projekt Red haven’t just created a great game but a modern gaming masterpiece. | Read review |
ThisGenGaming | Kerwin Tsang | 9 / 10 | 05-24-2015 | The Witcher 3 still triumphs as one of the greatest RPGs ever made, largely on the strength of its complex characters and first rate storytelling. There is no shortage of narratives to uncover and activities to partake in that all feel unique and lack the canned, recycled feel that has plagued other open world games like Watch_Dogs, Far Cry 4 and Dying Light. | Read review |
TrueAchievements | Jonathan Barnes | 5 / 5 stars | 06-03-2015 | The quality and quantity of the content in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are beyond compare and without peer. It is now the gold standard to which all other RPGs will be held. With hundreds of hours of rich, detailed story, a plethora of side quests, incredible aesthetic design, deep combat systems, and unprecedented sense of place and character, it checks off all of the boxes for excellence in the genre. Those plaudits come at a price, though, as the game can be a technical grab bag of minor (and major) bugs and glitches. While there is little doubt that CD Projekt RED will be giving the game consistent patch and DLC support to smooth out the majority of these marks, you can only buff out the dents in the horrific control scheme so much. Fortunately, these technical gripes and moments of mechanical frustration are easy to overlook when examining the experience as a whole. This is a game that should not be missed by RPG fans, should be tried by curious gamers, and will be looked back upon as one of the best ever. Consider it a must play and say goodbye to your summer. | Read review |
Twinfinite | Zhiqing Wan | 5 / 5 stars | 05-26-2015 | It is a shining example of what RPGs should be: an experience that makes you believe that you’re truly part of a game’s world and that you have a very real stake in it. That’s exactly what Wild Hunt has achieved here. | Read review |
USgamer | Mike Williams | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-21-2015 | The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is probably one of the most well-crafted RPG worlds yet. As you wander the countryside, it feels like a real place filled with the real struggles of the beings that live there. Geralt’s story is personal and quite grey; it’s not about saving the world, it’s about saving his surrogate family. Is it perfect? No, the combat is rote at times and the inventory and crafting needs work, but in the end, The Witcher III is a top-notch RPG experience. | Read review |

VideoGamer | Brett Phipps | 9 / 10 | 05-11-2015 | The Witcher 3 is vast, intriguing, and enthralling. | Read review |
Washington Post | Christopher Byrd | Recommended | 06-02-2015 | What sets “The Witcher 3” apart from most of the competition is its keen sense of humanity, which is calculated to be every bit as gripping as an HBO drama. At their best, the characters with whom you chat don’t seem like they live in a vacuum only to impart useful information. | Read review |
We Got This Covered | Shaan Joshi | 5 / 5 stars | 06-02-2015 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt manages to constantly excite and amaze, with sublime storytelling and engrossing gameplay that never leaves you wanting more. | Read review |
