My Friendly Neighborhood
Critics Consensus (Waiting for Reviews)
Game Info
Something is amiss with everyone’s favorite Saturday morning puppet show! For years, the colorful cast of The Friendly Neighborhood delighted audiences across the globe with their cooky capers and educational adventures. However, as time went on and interest waned, the production studio found themselves out of money and closed their doors for good. Toy sales would dwindle, and birthday balloons and cakes would find new mascots. In time, the once household names would fade into increasingly niche fandoms. Until one night years later, the studio unexpectedly clicks back to life and starts broadcasting The Friendly Neighborhood. TV sets across the globe flicker for a moment before the familiar puppets return for a surprise encore! But this isn’t your typical family-friendly holiday special… are those puppets eating each other!?

While the finale of the game may not capitalize entirely on the promise of its early hours, My Friendly Neighborhood is, on a whole, one of the satisfying new horror experiences in a year that’s had no shortage of terrific horror games to choose from. If you’re looking for a fun and unsettling survival-horror title that’s light on gore and heavy on spine-tingling thrills, I wholeheartedly recommend giving My Friendly Neighborhood a spin.
My Friendly Neighborhood is a pleasant surprise and a genuine delight, one highly recommended for fans of survival horror, mascot horror and possibly even those who aren’t horror fans.
Thankfully, these weaknesses are overpowered by everything else and never become apparent until after the halfway point. From beginning to end, My Friendly Neighborhood is a wonderful game full of mystery, tension, clever design, and phenomenal performances. This is a must-play title that will hopefully gain the traction and attention it deserves.

Slant Magazine | Steven Scaife | 3.5 / 5 stars | 07-17-2023 | As for the MFN offices, they’re full of detailed memorabilia like posters, props, and episode scripts, to the point where simply taking it all in is perhaps the game’s main appeal. There’s a tangible love and care that has gone into making the game’s equivalent of Sesame Street studios feel plausible, as well as a clear delight in warping our memory of a show that opened up a world of imagination for generations of children into something darker. | Read review |
TechRaptor | Tyler Chancey | 8 / 10 | 07-17-2023 | While My Friendly Neighborhood is rough in several spots, Its solid survival horror gameplay, dedication to its premise, and great replay value make it must play. | Read review |
Use a Potion | Unknown | 8 / 10 | 07-27-2023 | My Friendly Neighborhood offers a unique horror experience that’s a lot of fun to play thanks to its clever yet unconventional children’s TV show setup. It’s all very ‘family-friendly’ in design and doesn’t always necessarily feel like a horror game, but that’s what makes the whole experience so unnerving – especially since it’s full of moments that’ll leave you unsettled and on the edge of your seat. | Read review |
WayTooManyGames | Kyle Nicol | 7.5 / 10 | 07-25-2023 | My Friendly Neighborhood is a very surprising game, taking elements from the mascot horror genre and actually making use of its potential. Whilst it’s not really a horror game, and you shouldn’t be expecting much in the way of scares, it’s unique atmosphere and homage to the Resident Evil franchise are worth celebrating. The story, setting, gameplay, and level design all work well together to deliver a unique experience. | Read review |
