Without many changes compared to the previous version and with some improvable details, MXGP 2020 will meet the expectations of the fans. Those who have enjoyed the 2019 installment will undoubtedly welcome this 2020 and for those just starting out in the franchise, this gateway may make them stay. However, those who expected a significant improvement with this generational jump would do well not to hope or stay in the previous installment, since they will not find something innovative here. |

MXGP 2020 The Official Motocross Videogame is not a next-gen experience on the PlayStation 5 but more a port but if you’re a fan of motocross, then you’ve come to the right place. Sure, it does need a bit more of a shine here and there but it does create the illusion of riding an off road motorbike, particularly with its streamlined controls and clever use of hapctics. |

MXGP 2020 is not a particular show of effort, and the consequence of this are noticeable on platforms that are not the PlayStation 5. On the new Sony flagship, however, a (rather primitive, admittedly) use of the DualSense is more than enough, and does a lot of work when it comes to feeling the bike in your hands. As for the rest, there are noticeable, but also not particularly impressive improvements on the (already good) MXGP 2019 experience. But let’s be honest, what we’re waiting for from Milestone is a true next gen game. |

MXGP 2020 on Xbox is more than just a rally game for people that like eating mud and wearing leathers. It’s challenging, it’s rewarding, and while I’m still a long way off even finishing a race without falling off, it’s nice to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you know your Honda from your KTM, this is an easy sell, as it is probably as realistic a MXGP experience can be with all your bones intact. |

MXGP 2020 is improved over the last entry but its first outing on the next generation consoles isn’t as impressive as I would’ve hoped. It looks better, loads faster, and plays smoother than ever before but I think it’s still outclassed in most of those areas as well as in things like its Career mode by some last generation racing games. Dirt bike fans will enjoy the realistic handling model and the DualSense features help to make it a bit more immersive while playing. If you skipped MXGP 19 or are just that hardcore of a fan then this isn’t a bad pick up but it might be worth waiting for MXGP 2021 to see what the franchise can do on the next generation with a bit more time to fine tune it. |

The PlayStation 5 version of MXGP 2020 feels exactly like most early titles released right after a console’s initial launch period. It’s midway between the last generation and what the next generation of gaming will actually look and feel like, and a game that utilizes some of its new hardware’s capabilities. But at the end of the day, it feels just like a slightly prettier last-gen title. |
