Mario Golf: Super Rush is a fast-paced spin on the relaxing sport that oozes excitement.
Speed Golf is a fun addition, but a poor adventure mode, a slight selection of courses and low replayability results in Mario Golf: Super Rush being an underwhelming entry into the series.
Running between shots can be chaotic fun, but Mario Golf truly lives in its ever-soothing standard mode.

Areajugones | Juan Linares | 9 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is undoubtedly one of the best installments of recent years. It is able to reward players who opt for traditional golf of all deliveries and at the same time innovate with new game modes that bring more dynamism and fun for those who may not be so familiar with golf. In addition the fun is multiplied in the online modes or with the local co-op for up to 4 players. | Read review |
Atomix | Sebastian Quiroz | 75 / 100 | 06-30-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush offers solid gameplay and a fun experience. However, some of the formula changes will disappoint more than one. | Read review |
Attack of the Fanboy | Dean James | 3.5 / 5 stars | 07-03-2021 | While it may not be the best entry in the series, Nintendo has at least managed to make par with Mario Golf: Super Rush by offering the core arcade style golfing experience players come to expect alongside some enjoyable new game types that will hopefully continue to get even better with future updates. | Read review |
AusGamers | Steve Farrelly | 6.9 / 10 | 07-06-2021 | Most games from the sport dump you into a links lexicon water hazard, Super Rush, however, assumes a conservative approach to a player’s golf and golf-lingo knowledge, and educates in a manner that isn’t patronising at all. In fact, it’s just a lot of fun without being cheesy or too OTT. | Read review |
But Why Tho? | Jason Flatt | 7 / 10 | 06-28-2021 | Despite the mulligans I wish Mario Golf: Super Rush could take, it’s still a strongly delivered game any fan of party games and party sport simulators in particular can enjoy alone or with friends. | Read review |
Cerealkillerz | Manuel Barthes | 8.1 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is a successful continuation of the sports series. The new game modes ensure a large portion of games, fun and excitement. This makes it easier to get over the fact that Nintendo is leaving a lot of potential in Adventure Mode. Even that is quickly forgotten when you start with friends in multiplayer. Getting started is easy, but the battle for victory is all the greater. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Jordan Biordi | 7 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush manages to be a mostly enjoyable experience, but feels undercooked compared to its predecessors. | Read review |
Checkpoint Gaming | Charlie Kelly | 5 / 10 | 06-28-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is one of the few games Nintendo puts out that every now and then is a bit of a miss. While trying its best by adding new modes, it doesn’t have the charm, polish and even satisfaction that have come from previous superb titles in the Mario sports series. What it needed to succeed was more doubling down on those beloved Mario characters, more time in the oven and plenty of ways to sink your time. Despite some moments of promise, it failed to match on almost all those fronts. | Read review |
COGconnected | Jaz Sagoo | 90 / 100 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush’s plethora of options and solid mechanics make this one of the greatest arcade golf video games to date. The inclusion of the exciting, speed-based Rush and Battle modes helps take the genre in a new direction that will appeal to gamers old and new. With an incredible story mode that will keep you hooked throughout and the returning cast of characters in fresh golfing garb, it’s clear Nintendo has hit a glorious stripe down the fairway. | Read review |
Cubed3 | James Grech | 5 / 10 | 07-29-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush plays as well as it should and introduces some exciting elements to the long-running series. Playing with the right people can make for a fun time… but that’s about it. A poorly executed Adventure Mode, overall lack of creativity and no incentive to keep playing all make for a disappointing package that is more of a step backwards for the franchise. The promise of free DLC updates may alleviate some of these issues, but when looking at it as a full-priced first-party Nintendo product, Super Rush simply isn’t up to par. | Read review |

DASHGAMER.com | Bryce Dewit | Recommended | 07-02-2021 | It would be a shame to miss out on some frantic Mario Golf shenanigans. And hey, a little Birdie told me I have an Eagle eye for a solid Albatross, and I can guarantee that you ain’t no Triple Bogey, you’re on Par with the Hole-in-one hotshots. | Read review |
Destructoid | Eric Van Allen | 6.5 / 10 | 07-09-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is still a fairly solid golf experience, but it will need some of that aforementioned post-launch support to match up with previous sports spinoffs for me. It satisfies a craving for some arcade-style golf multiplayer, and I can see myself having some fun playing an 18-hole trek with friends online a few more times. I’m just hoping for some more reasons to keep me coming back. | Read review |
Digital Trends | Giovanni Colantonio | 3 / 5 stars | 06-28-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush features elegant golf systems, but is devoid of content that makes good use of it. | Read review |
Digitally Downloaded | Matt Sainsbury | 3.5 / 5 stars | 07-01-2021 | I’m very torn on Mario Golf: Super Rush. On the one hand, the aesthetics are gorgeous, the charm is there, and the basic golf mechanics are wonderfully accessible and yet have enough given that there is room to master them. Putting aside the silly “manually chase the ball” nonsense in the story mode, the rest of it feels like a homage back to the original GBC Mario Golf, too, and that’s really nice. I even give a pass to the Battle Golf mode. It may have sucked up development resources and time but… it is great, highly repeatable multiplayer fun. | Read review |
Easy Allies | Brandon Jones | 3.5 / 5 stars | 07-11-2021 | With simpler mechanics and more frantic modes, it’s never been faster to play a round of Mario Golf. The gameplay has lots of options, but sadly each mode comes up a few yards short on content. | Read review |
Echo Boomer | David Fialho | Not Recommended | 07-11-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rsuh can and will be fun when played together with friends as family, rushing to the next hole in chaotic sprints. But for a solo experience, it drags too much, with a boring campaign full of excessive dialogs and tutorials that makes Super Rush, dangerously close to a golf simulator. | Read review |
EGM | Michael Goroff | 6 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | For the first home console game in the series in nearly two decades, Mario Golf: Super Rush is a bit underwhelming, at least in terms of what it has to offer. Speed Golf and Battle Golf are both great ideas, but they aren’t fleshed out enough to feel like main modes. Golf Adventure is a great way to add depth to what basically amounts to an extended tutorial, but it too suffers from pacing problems. Thankfully, the bulk of the game-the actual golfing-feels better than ever by being both technically challenging and more accessible. | Read review |

Everyeye.it | Cristina Bona | 8.5 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush brings a decidedly pleasant Adventure mode to the green, able to intelligently integrate into the overall offer of the title and entertain for a wide number of hours. The latter is joined by the innovative Speed Golf, new entry for the saga, and the even more exuberant Battaglia Golf. Fun and layered gameplay is set by Camelot in a highly customizable setting, which aims to offer the best of itself in the company of friends and family. | Read review |

GamesBeat | Jeff Grubb | 60 / 100 | 07-12-2021 | The adventure isn’t Super Rush’s real flaw. I’m used to the series coming up short in that aspect at this point. Instead, this game’s issue is I don’t know what I’m supposed to do now. If I had time and a regular crew to play against, I imagine we would make an appointment to play the game together. That seems like fun, but it’s also a hassle. And the game doesn’t do much to alleviate the pains of getting a group together. | Read review |

Gaming Nexus | Elliot Hilderbrand | 7.4 / 10 | 07-06-2021 | Good, not great. Fun yet frustrating. Scratching the itch while giving me athlete’s foot. The new modes feel rushed and not completely thought out to be much more than a stunt. The game feels balanced when choosing which character to play, and the adventure mode will easily fill in the void of playing by yourself, just don’t go looking for a gripping story. Mario Golf: Super Rush tees it off, but has the ball landing in the rough. | Read review |
GamingBolt | Pramath | 7 / 10 | 07-03-2021 | A lack of content holds Mario Golf Super Rush back, but purely mechanically and in terms of design, it stands as one of Mario’s best sports game outings in a very long time. | Read review |

God is a Geek | Adam Cook | 8 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | While the single player adventure is a little underwhelming, Mario Golf: Super Rush is a terrific multiplayer experience I can see being added to over the years. Next up, Mario Strikers, right? | Read review |
GotGame | David Poole | 7.5 / 10 | 07-17-2021 | While Mario Golf: Super Rush doesn’t feel like a complete package yet, it has a solid foundation. What it lacks in content and features, it makes up for it with a stellar presentation and fun new modes. It would’ve been great to have some incentive to play more modes aside from unlocking star clubs, but maybe we’ll get changes in future updates. With a lot of additional free content on the way, there’s still a chance that Super Rush can become a great title. For now, it scratches the Mario Golf itch just enough, but still falls a bit short. Overall, the game is simply par for the course. Nothing less, nothing more. | Read review |
GRYOnline.pl | Michał Grygorcewicz | 7 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is a golf simulator, that doesn’t take itself seriously. This makes the game very pleasant. What is more, the game introduces some innovations to the formula which makes it feel pretty complete. It’s a pity that Mario Golf is a “party game” focused heavily on 4-person competitive play. | Read review |

Hey Poor Player | Andrew Thornton | 2.5 / 5 stars | 06-30-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush isn’t an unplayable game. The core golf is actually quite good, despite some changes, which will have a mixed reception from players. Almost everything around it, however, is either poorly thought out, lacking any personality, or lacking in content. Perhaps down the line, more content will fill it out enough that you can have fun playing only the parts which work, but Camelot has a lot of work to do to get this one to par. | Read review |
Hobby Consolas | Alberto Lloret | 85 / 100 | 06-24-2021 | It doesn’t matter if you like golf or not. Luis Alamilla | Luis Alamilla | 7 / 10 | 06-26-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is a welcomed returned to form for the Mario Golf series and the Mario Sports genre as a whole. Having an RPG story mode is a nice return but I wish it dove deeper into it rather than just at the surface level. The new speed golf makes for a fun party mode that tickles that new Mario Kart itch I’ve been feeling for quite a few years now. While it may not the sharpest-looking Switch game, it more than makes up for it with a beautiful saturated world that’s filled with personality and beauty. Hopefully, we see some more content releases for this in the future because with some DLC courses and the well fleshed out online multiplayer, I could see myself playing Super Rush for months to come. As is though, it’s a solid entry for the series that won’t blow you away but will scratch the series itch. | Read review |

Metro GameCentral | GameCentral | 8 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | The best Mario Golf game since the N64 original and while it does have some odd ideas they’re almost all optional, resulting in an impressively comprehensive sporting experience. | Read review |
Nintendo Enthusiast | Jaimie Ditchfield | 6 / 10 | 06-29-2021 | Ultimately, Mario Golf: Super Rush is an underwhelming spin-off that lacks any sort of imagination but is still fun to play. Super Rush features accessible golfing mechanics that are easy to understand, with tutorials available at any time. There are some genuinely charming moments in the single-player Golf Adventure mode too, but they don’t make up for the tedious progression system. The other modes such as Speed Golf are fun to play with a group of friends, but online performance is abysmal. If you are after another fun “party” game, then you may be interested in giving Mario Golf: Super Rush a spin, but this game could have been much more than what it is. | Read review |
Nintendo Life | Thomas Whitehead | 7 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is a game that in many respects hits its marks. Golf Adventure has plenty of charm and offers a fun way to learn various mechanics and unlock courses. Away from that solo endeavour there are decent options and customisation for multiplayer games, local or online, button controls or motion-based swinging. It’s not a premium effort, however, with a nagging feeling of corners cut and at times an absence of creativity. However, many players should get a good amount of fun out of this one, both solo and with friends. This ain’t the Masters, but for Mario Golf fans it is a solid par. | Read review |

NintendoWorldReport | Jordan Rudek | 6.5 / 10 | 06-29-2021 | It should have been a culmination of the home and handheld versions of Mario Golf, and instead it largely squanders that potential. Operation Sports | Kevin Scott | Recommended | 07-02-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is pretty much everything I could want out of a Mario Golf title. Its brand of simple but rewarding golf serves as a sturdy foundation that allows the game to build on it with all sorts of ways to play against and have you interact with your opponents. The Golf Adventure single-player mode is a helpful and entertaining way to learn the lay of the land and refine the skills of your Mii before pitting your skills against other opponents online. Unfortunately, the online play could have been improved with the implementation of some intelligent matchmaking. | Read review |
Paste Magazine | Waverly | 5 / 10 | 07-13-2021 | My biggest problem with Mario Golf: Super Rush is that it rarely reaches a point where it’s consistently entertaining. It all feels too safe, and too conservative. It feels like a by-the-books Mario sports game. It doesn’t seem like it can support the hours spent with friends that you expect from the series. It’s simply a shell of moustaches and rainbows to remind me of the fun times that were once had. | Read review |

Rice Digital | Pete Davison | Recommended | 06-29-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush’s adventure mode probably won’t take you a long time to clear — likely somewhere around the 6-10 hour mark, depending on how many times you have to retry the tougher challenges — but it’s a great introduction to what the game has to offer, and a perfect example of how Nintendo is willing to infuse one of the most slow-paced, potentially boring sports in the world with a sense of energy, personality and dynamism. | Read review |
RPGamer | Paul Shkreli | 2.5 / 5 stars | 07-23-2021 | There is no disputing this is an enjoyable, albeit brief, single-player golf game that provides the framework for a compelling gameplay experience. The Outerhaven Productions | Tyler Kelbaugh | Not Recommended | 07-08-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is a frustrating game from a frustrating developer. Camelot seems to have learned nothing from Mario Tennis Aces’ poor launch, and with future updates promised, it seems they aim to fix Super Rush’s flaws through content updates. TheSixthAxis | Stefan L | 7 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | It’s great to see Mario Golf: Speed Rush reviving another Mario sports franchise for Nintendo Switch, but it’s a game that feels that restrained in some places and muddled in others. Washington Post | Christopher Byrd | 80FALSE | 07-03-2021 | Is nostalgia and love of golf enough to carry “Mario Golf” as a whole? It has enough just to keep players interested. During a multiplayer session with Nintendo, I got to run around in Battle Golf and Speed Golf. Much of the fun came from other people’s reactions to landing bogeys or particularly clean shots. If you happen to have a gaggle of friends who love golf, this just might be the game for you. Otherwise, “Mario Golf” falls flat on its own. | Read review |
Wccftech | Nathan Birch | 9 / 10 | 06-24-2021 | Mario Golf: Super Rush is the plumber’s best sports outing in a good long time, featuring smartly-revamped core mechanics, beautiful, varied courses, clever new modes, and a single-player Adventure full of fun twists. WellPlayed | Kieron Verbrugge | 7 / 10 | 07-07-2021 | Mario Golf Super Rush is competent, and it shows flashes of creativity in its Speed Golf and Battle Golf modes, but the package ultimately loses momentum a little too quickly. ZTGD | Ken McKown | 7 / 10 | 07-28-2021 | Mario Golf Super Rush feels rushed. There are no bones about it. I feel like they could make it a great game over time with more content, but I worry the tail of this particular game won’t be as long as some other Nintendo titles.
