Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is an impeccably detailed and blisteringly fast racer with incredible graphics and rock-solid arcade underpinnings, although it’s guilty of forgetting to suitably cater to its wide audience at times.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged is like Hot Wheels Unleashed, but better in every single conceivable way. Frenetically fluid and stonkingly fast, this is a quality arcade racer that will slap smiles on the faces of both young and old alike. Just don’t mention the single-player campaign.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged offers tons of cars and tracks for players to enjoy, featuring solid gameplay throughout.

But Why Tho? | Jason Flatt | 7 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 doesn’t do much different than its predecessor, for better and worse. If you liked the original, this sequel offers basically more of the same with some new cars and environments. Regardless, it’s a well-made arcade racer with endless combinations of tracks to master and excel at. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Justin Wood | 7 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Overall, Hot Wheels Unleased 2: Turbocharged builds on the solid foundation of the first game by adding new vehicles, tracks and more importantly new race modes. While the story is bland and forgettable, the gameplay is too much fun for it to hold it back too much. | Read review |
COGconnected | Jaz Sagoo | 78 / 100 | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged improves on its predecessor with refinements on the track and new modes. The multiplayer portion has had an overhaul with new modes that take advantage of new mechanics to offer more variety. However, the small number of environments is still an issue and makes the different tracks feel too familiar. Milestone sticks to what worked which results in a very similar experience. While it does improve on the original, it doesn’t add enough to make its way up the podium. | Read review |
Digital Trends | Tomas Franzese | 3.5 / 5 stars | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged enhances the original’s formula is every possible way. | Read review |

Game Informer | Louis Livingston-Garcia | 7.75 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | I can’t knock Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged for too much; it’s an enjoyable, arcade-like racer that feels like something you might find in the arcade. It captures what it’s like to be a kid imagining race courses for your toys and offers an almost overwhelming customizable playbox. The quick races and variety in modes never let anything become too dull before you’re on to the next objective, boosting your way to victory. I’m not a Hot Wheels diehard, but the sheer creativity, speed, and customization hooked me. | Read review |
GameGrin | Mike Crewe | 8.5 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Silky smooth arcade racing at its very best, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 | Read review |
GameSpew | Richard Seagrave | 9 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | All in all, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged isn’t all that different from its predecessor, but it is bigger and better in just about every way. A brand new range of environments and additional vehicle types help to keep things feeling relatively fresh. And new event types are also very much welcome. It’s the new moves at your disposal that really elevate the experience, though. Being able to jump has allowed Milestone to get even more creative when it comes to track design, and it also adds yet more depth – you have to think more about how to use your boost. This is a very worthy sequel, then. It’s just a shame you can’t carry over your vehicles from the first game. | Read review |
Gaming Nexus | Eric Hauter | 9 / 10 | 10-17-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged has improved and expanded every aspect of the original game, and smoothed out some of the difficulty spikes that entranced/enraged me the first time around. Though the new story is mostly kid stuff, the actual racing is still challenging and wildly exciting. Crushingly good graphics, fun mechanics, and the obsessive collection of amazing toys once again combine to create a fantastic must-play racer. | Read review |
GamingBolt | Usaid | 8 / 10 | 10-17-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 does a great job of overcoming the original’s shortcomings, and comes out as a more complete and well-rounded racing game. While it isn’t immune to scrutiny and criticism, it’s still a great arcade racer that’s well worth trying out. | Read review |
Generación Xbox | Pedro del Pozo | 8.2 / 10 | 10-18-2023 | I have no doubt, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is one of the funniest, most complete, and most visually beautiful arcade driving titles on the market. It is a perfect combination between being a powerful merchandising element that can well go in the Santa Claus card of the little ones in the house and at the same time, being a real challenge for any demanding player. The possibilities of customization, track editing, a full campaign and the 130 Hot Wheels make it an undisputed product. You can even play Split Screen co-op! | Read review |

Hey Poor Player | Cory Clark | 4.5 / 5 stars | 10-16-2023 | Chances are, if you’re checking out a review for a sequel to the best Hot Wheels game to be released in the past ten years, you know why you’re here. You see tracks in the most normal locations and think about how fun an orange and blue retreading would look, and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is right here, ready and willing to fulfill that fantasy, with a massive collection of cars to do it with. Simple mechanics compliment such a smooth racing experience, making for an easy to recommend, pick-up-and-play arcade racer just as tried-and-true as it gets. Seeing your favorite rides come to life in such a carefree and exciting way will probably release all the endorphins you think it will, even with the tunes and engine sounding a bit out of shape. If your diecast childhood dreams ever catch up with you, you can’t do any wrong picking up Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, along with a few Hot Wheels cars while you’re at it (you know you want to). | Read review |
Hobby Consolas | David Rodriguez | 80 / 100 | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged is not a must-buy sequel for those who enjoyed the first game, but it has certainly managed to add enough incentives to round off an arcade formula that is as fun as it is inspiring. This is a more complete game, better planned in its progression and with a lot of content. | Read review |

IGN Spain | Rafa Del Río | 7 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | With new vehicle types, environments and driving mechanics, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is the ideal arcade racer for the young and the nostalgic veteran alike. | Read review |
Impulsegamer | James Davie | 3.7 / 5 stars | 10-16-2023 | The return of Hot Wheels has brought with it mixed results. The racing action is undeniably exciting and pulse-quickening, which correlates wonderfully with the nostalgia of using the real-life playsets, and the are plenty of models to collect that you’ll feel spoilt for choice. However, Turbocharged is weighed down by overfamiliarity, unambitious race modes, on-track frustrations, and a sense not enough has been done to evolve this sequel. On a base-level, Turbocharged is a pleasure to play, but Milestone should try to stop toying around with this franchise, it’s got the va-va-voom to be something special, but unfortunately Turbocharged isn’t quite it. | Read review |
LevelUp | Pedro Pérez Cesari | 7 / 10 | 10-17-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is an entertaining game, but it has a long way to go before it can compete against the big names of the genre. It is evident that Milestone thought of it as a casual arcade racing game that you can enjoy in challenges with your friends to spend a time full of laughter and chaotic fun. Unfortunately, this good foundation suffers from a completely soulless and generic track design that you’ll quickly forget. | Read review |
Nintendo Life | Tom Massey | 8 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Fans of Hot Wheels will feel well served from a nostalgia point of view, and inspired by its huge number of new modes. Unleashed 2: Turbocharged combines furious arcade race challenges with childlike creativity, being able to build tracks any which way, and race them to breaking point. You can feel the Switch’s lack of muscle, with a markedly smudgier feel than the grip offered by more powerful consoles, but as a racing experience bursting with customisation, modes, and creativity to mine, it’s both an excellent successor to the 16-Bit Micro Machines legacy and sits firmly in pole position over its predecessor. | Read review |
Operation Sports | Cory Dell | Recommended | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is an incredibly fun arcade racer that taps into childhood memories. While the Creature Rampage story and the game itself might be catered towards kids, adults will have a blast boosting across the unique tracks. Elimination Mode should be a party-pleaser, and when crazy challenging tracks are bountifully available then full online lobbies battling it out seems like it will be a great time. Completing the entire story portion of the game took me roughly 12 hours and that was without completing every Unleashed Goal or even every race. If you attempt to completed all Unleashed goals as well as the challenges, it looks like you can easily sink 15-20 total hours into the offline story mode. No matter how you play, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is a blast and worth a look if you’re a fan of the genre or just want something different in your rotation. | Read review |
PlayStation LifeStyle | Tyler Treese | 8 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 earns its Turbocharged subtitle as it builds on the original’s base to deliver a more polished and enjoyable sequel. The new mobility mechanics add a lot to the racing, giving Milestone and users more freedom in designing tracks. This is quickly becoming one of the studio’s most enjoyable series and a breath of fresh air in the arcade racing space. | Read review |
Press Start | Steven Impson | 7.5 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is great fun in short bursts. The chaotic energy, ridiculous car designs, new abilities and commitment to the miniature racing aesthetic make for a bombastic racing experience, for a while. The campaign storyline left me cold, and the freedom to screw up might be fun in a silly multiplayer session but becomes annoying solo. The sheer amount of track and car customisation options should at least add longevity to the online multiplayer experience. | Read review |
PSX Brasil | Paulo Roberto Montanaro | 90 / 100 | 10-17-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged improves on everything that was already great about its predecessor, increasing game modes and mechanics to offer more diversity and quality of life to a simple but very fun game based on the charismatic toy cars. | Read review |
Push Square | Simon Fitzgerald | 8 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is a highly polished, fast-paced, fun, and robust racing sequel that builds upon its predecessor in all the right ways. Addressing almost all our criticisms of the previous title by adding impressive core mechanic modifications in the form of jumps, dashes, and new terrains, removing loot boxes, and adding obstacle immunity skills, Milestone has created a fantastic follow-up arcade racer to be reckoned with. | Read review |

TechRaptor | Tanushri Shah | 8.5 / 10 | 10-16-2023 | Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is a worthy successor with plenty of new cars and customization options, fun new game modes, and even a decent single-player campaign. It improves on many of its predecessor’s faults, albeit still having a few of its own. | Read review |
