Far: Lone Sails is a gorgeous little game with an incredible soundtrack and a journey packed full of both stressful and serene moments alike.
A mournful yet bright and enormously warm-hearted adventure with a novel landship mechanic, sublime backdrops and a brilliant score.
Far: Lone Sails tells a compelling text-free story in an engaging world, and the connection you build with your vehicle over the course of the journey is a compelling one.

33bits | Jon Andoni Ortiz | 80 / 100 | 07-03-2018 | A lonely adventure that will please anyone looking for something different. If you feel like embarking on a very special journey, just fill up with fuel, start the vehicle and put it in neutral. We only need one pilot, and you seem like the perfect candidate. | Read review |
3DNews | Александр Бабулин | 8.5 / 10 | 06-02-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails is not long, very simple game, but with perfect rhytm and surprisingly addictive process. So much that you'll want to beat it in one session. And, perhaps, to start anew – it will not reveal something new and will not offer challenges, but it is very pleasant to swim along the waves of its melancholy. Kind of like to read a nice poem and then go over it. | Read review |
Areajugones | Víctor Rodríguez | 7.5 / 10 | 05-14-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails has a very interesting proposition. An adventure that mixes puzzles with plattforming, but focuses on a well elaborated narrative with a clear message. A game that clearly deserves our attention. | Read review |
BaziCenter | Milad Taher Nejad | 8 / 10 | 04-12-2019 | Lone Sails 2D, beautiful journey is short but sweet, and there is no other game in this genre that you can compare it with. If you don't mind your 15 bucks, you should definitely go for it. | Read review |
COGconnected | Mario Brash | 83 / 100 | 05-23-2018 | I dare to say there are very few titles that can recreate the flow of problem-solving and artistry present in this experience. Fewer still could trigger my emotional investment. | Read review |
Cubed3 | Ofisil | 8 / 10 | 12-10-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails is an emotive trip through a dying, yet beautiful world. It's a journey that doesn't last for long, and whose low replay value makes it hard to come back to it... and yet it's also one that's hard to let go once you start it. Fans of such games are definitely advised to give it a go | Read review |
Cultured Vultures | Jay Krieger | 8 / 10 | 05-17-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails manages to be memorable in a way that a lot of indie games fail to be. What it lacks in length and varied gameplay, it makes up for with its spellbinding presentation. | Read review |
DualShockers | Ashley Donnelly | 7.5 / 10 | 05-27-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails has quite a few awards and it is easy to see why during gameplay. | Read review |

GameGrin | Adam Wilkin | 10 / 10 | 05-27-2018 | A puzzle platformer about a journey through an atmospheric wasteland, this game is a pinnacle of design brilliance. | Read review |
GamePitt | Shaun Sannerude | 8.4 / 10 | 05-09-2019 | FAR: Lone Sails created a sense of isolation unlike I’ve ever felt before from a game. It’s visually stunning and moulds resource management and exploration in a fun and unique way with having to operate your land-ship to traverse the beautiful, yet bleak world. It might be a tad on the short side but as a whole, the game is extremely satisfying and a pleasure to play. | Read review |
GameSpot | James O'Connor | 8 / 10 | 05-15-2018 | A meditative, breezy puzzle adventure game that's light on challenge, but likely to stick with you after you finish it. | Read review |

IGN Spain | Unknown | 7.5 / 10 | 04-10-2019 | An interesting proposal that pays attention to your feeling more than to graphics or sound to tell us a moving story about loneliness. | Read review |
INDIANTVCZ | Marek Čabák | 8 / 10 | 06-26-2019 | In short, if you are an artistic soul who likes well-built worlds and philosophical questions arising from an interesting story, go ahead. Otherwise avoid the game because you will be disappointed. | Read review |
Jump Dash Roll | Rob Kershaw | 8 / 10 | 04-11-2019 | The console port of Okomotive's debut is contemplative, lovely, and over too soon. | Read review |
Nintendo Life | Vikki Blake | 9 / 10 | 08-22-2019 | Without saying a word, FAR: Lone Sails conveys a poignant tale of hope and perseverance, masterfully balancing style with substance for an experience that feels every bit as sublime as it looks. Sure, you could grumble about the shortness of the experience, the occasionally obtuse puzzles and the very, very minor control issues, but these problems dissolve away once you're invested in the journey. We highly recommend that you give this a spin. | Read review |
NoobFeed | Bogdan Robert Mateș | 90 / 100 | 05-16-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails is an excellent journey through silence and desolation in puzzle-platformer clothing. | Read review |
OnlySP | Ben Newman | 4 / 5 stars | 04-06-2019 | Travel has formed the basis of many works of fiction. No other game, though, has committed to this human need to move forward as much as FAR. Aspects of the game touch on real-world issues—the dissolution of agrarian life, reliance on fossils fuels, technology as comfort—but the only one that really matters is the reiteration of what travel means to people. The title starts by tickling the innate need in gamers to move forward, before gently coaxing them into a pilgrimage. In only three hours, FAR is a reminder that even when things get rough, we can always push forward. | Read review |
Oyungezer Online | Mert Köse | 7.7 / 10 | 05-18-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails is a game that makes you think 'not bad at all' from the beginning until the end. There are no tiresome game mechanics, but there are no unforgettable moments either. | Read review |
Push Square | Graham Banas | 7 / 10 | 04-15-2019 | FAR: Lone Sails is a lovely title. Remarkable environments and a strong art direction anchor a brief but compelling title. While the puzzles and amount of resources never really hit a point to make anything truly challenging, the resource management loop is more satisfying here than it usually is in more survival-focused titles. | Read review |
Reno Gazette-Journal | Jason Hidalgo | 7.5 / 10 | 08-02-2018 | Ultimately, FAR: Lone Sails is a game for folks who want to occasionally step back and enjoy the world it exists in as opposed to taming it. In that sense, it's more experiential than mechanical in the traditional gameplay sense, which is a bit ironic given its heavy use of machinery. Folks who want fast-paced action and a lengthy adventure will be better served looking elsewhere. If you're the type who enjoys atmosphere and also have an affinity for machines like the Vic Viper or mobile suits, though, FAR's okomotive just might steal your heart. | Read review |
Rock, Paper, Shotgun | Sam Greer | Recommended | 06-25-2018 | Games that give us spaces to become familiar with have a special place in my heart and Far: Lone Sails has earned its place there. A game that offers us both a memorable journey and a place to call home. Of course, how much meaning can one have without the other? Far: Lone Sails gave me a wistful sense of both that I won't soon forget. | Read review |
Sirus Gaming | Erickson Melchor | 8.5 / 10 | 05-23-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails is one of the best Indie games to come out in recent memory. The gameplay is simple and effective. Everything you need to know about the character and the world is presented to you in the first 5 minutes of the game. The idea of a completely vast world with no one to interact with may be depressing to some people, but we have to accept this solitude in order complete the journey. If anything, your vehicle is your companion. Without it, you are truly without hope. I suggest not focusing on the destination but on the journey itself. I recommend this game to anyone wanting to try something new and unique. This is one tale that’s going to stay with you for a while. | Read review |
Slant Magazine | Steven Scaife | 2.5 / 5 stars | 05-17-2018 | The game takes so much more than it gives, forgetting that a journey isn't simply about the means of travel. | Read review |
SpazioGames | Domenico Musicò | 7.5 / 10 | 06-08-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails is a "Limbo-like" game that forces you to manage and drive an odd veicole through a wasteland, telling a story of despair, solitude and broken hopes. | Read review |
TechRaptor | Richard Costa | 8 / 10 | 05-23-2018 | FAR: Lone Sails is a miniature masterpiece, no less great for its compact simplicity. A must-play for anyone interested in post-apocalyptic scenarios, atmosphere-heavy games, and low-key environmental narrative. | Read review |
Washington Post | Christopher Byrd | Recommended | 06-15-2018 | Though there are times when Lone must dash frantically about the vehicle to keep things chugging along, "FAR: Lone Sails" leaves a lasting impression of tranquility. | Read review |
Wccftech | Francesco De Meo | 8 / 10 | 05-02-2019 | FAR: Lone Sails is a remarkable game that attempts to convey a message through its presentation and gameplay, without using any words, and totally succeeds in doing so. The experience may be on the short side, but if you're looking for something truly artistic and beyond much that has been done so far, look no further. | Read review |
