Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands takes the classic Borderlands formula and puts its own spin on it in a mostly successful attempt to blend fantasy and sci-fi. Though the ending didn’t land as well as it could have, the entire journey is well worth playing.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands retreads the same mechanical and narrative ground as Borderlands 3, ultimately creating a chapter in the franchise that’s fun but forgettable.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a fantasy-themed Borderlands spin-off that’s hilarious, action-packed, and ridiculous, even if it plays it a bit safe.

3DNews | Алексей Лихачев | 8 / 10 | 04-03-2022 | Thanks to a couple of fresh ideas the game is much more engaging than Borderlands 3, but it's still not great enough to compare it to the sequel. | Read review |
ACG | Jeremy Penter | Not Recommended | 03-23-2022 | Some fun to be had, but it is hard to shake the feeling that the premise doesn't get used as much and that a lot of it feels more like a mod than a full title. | Read review |
Areajugones | Alfonso Cánovas | 9 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is an ode to tabletop role-playing games that transports us to a world where we will live the game in the first person. The humorous and casual touch of Tina feels that it is not even painted and the improvements with respect to Borderlands make this spin-off practically surpass it. | Read review |
Atomix | Rodolfo León | 85 / 100 | 03-31-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a fantastic spinoff that manages to combine everything that makes Borderlands great, and even improves on the formula with welcome additions such as magic and a brand new fantasy setting. Sure, the humor and the loot system can be a little bit overwhelming at times, but even then, it's still an awesome time. The shooting and the gameplay mechanics feel responsive and precise, plus the 120FPS mode really makes the game feel much smoother than the standard 60FPS and 4K mode. | Read review |
Attack of the Fanboy | Diego Perez | 4 / 5 stars | 03-23-2022 | Wonderlands is a funnier and more focused version of its predecessors. | Read review |

BaziCenter | سید مرتضی موسوی | 9 / 10 | 04-04-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is Gearbox's most complete game in this genre; with it diverse gameplay enough to keep you busy for a good amount of time. Whether you are a Borderlands fan or not, Tiny Tina deserves a shot. | Read review |
Bazimag | Sina Golabzade | 8.5 / 10 | 03-27-2022 | Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a great addition to the Borderlands franchise and it brings back some of the comedic flair that felt lacking in the third main entry. The fantasy world's design is equal parts beautiful and exciting which has led to some of the most intriguing comedic and action moments of the year so far that you shouldn't miss. | Read review |
But Why Tho? | Arron Kluz | 8 / 10 | 03-29-2022 | Wonderlands manages to instead fix many of those issues while injecting new ideas to make it a special entry in the franchise thanks to more than just its setting. Hopefully, the game’s season pass will only continue to polish it even more, and the developers at Gearbox will take the lessons from Wonderlands into the series’ future. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Dayna Eileen | 8.5 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands brings a mystical world to life with a great dialogue and a stellar cast. Pairing all that with action-packed gameplay, Gearbox Software and 2K Games have made a must-play game. | Read review |
Checkpoint Gaming | Elliot Attard | 8.5 / 10 | 03-24-2022 | Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands surprises and delights with its evolved gameplay and stunning world. There’s a confidence and charisma here that goes beyond what came before it, with spells and class abilities weaving themselves effortlessly between the cathartic gunplay. A cast of likable main characters and a storytelling technique that’s unique and smart both go a long way in creating a world that’s just fun to be a part of. Minor glitches and a rather unfortunate online matchmaking system do hurt the title, but the successes here far outweigh any inconveniences. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands stands out as a great title, even amongst the many we’ve seen already this year. | Read review |
COGconnected | Mark Steighner | 90 / 100 | 03-23-2022 | Although it uses the Borderlands 3 engine and reprises several characters from earlier games in the franchise, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands does a great job of separating itself from its brethren. With a focus on high fantasy and cheeky humor that constantly pokes fun at RPG traditions, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands also doesn’t stray far from them, at least mechanically. Great writing, pitch perfect acting and frenetic action dominate the game, but exploring the nooks and crannies of the colorful overworld and detailed dungeons is equally satisfying. I had a blast in the Wonderlands and can’t wait to see what else the irrepressible Tiny Tina has in store for us. | Read review |
Cultured Vultures | Alex Hadzaman | 8 / 10 | 04-05-2022 | While still Borderlands at its core, Wonderlands stands on its own as a great entry that's worth trying. | Read review |
Destructoid | Chris Carter | 8 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is more Borderlands, and the lighter fantasy fare might actually get people to dive in for the first time. With that in mind, it’s still more Borderlands, so the same basic formula isn’t going to magically change your stance if you’re a lapsed fan. | Read review |
Digital Trends | Emily Morrow | 4 / 5 stars | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is the freshest that Borderlands has felt in years. | Read review |
DualShockers | Dean James | 8.5 / 10 | 03-30-2022 | Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a unique concoction of the classic Borderlands formula mixed with a Dungeons & Dragons experience all in one package. The relatively small core voice cast and charming story will keep you captivated as you take down hordes of enemies with your guns and magic in the very worthy spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. | Read review |
Easy Allies | Ben Moore | 4 / 5 stars | 03-26-2022 | Wonderlands doesn't reinvent the wheel, but proves there's still joy worth mining from the established Borderlands template, while its tabletop-inspired presentation feels playful and authentic. | Read review |
EGM | Michael Goroff | 6 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | The best and worst thing about Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is that it feels like another Borderlands game. The shooter gameplay is as tight and responsive as ever, the weapons are fun to use, and the writing is a marked improvement over Borderlands 3. The characters are once again at the center of the game's comedy, and the performances are great (when the actors are actually committing to their roles). But, because this is more Borderlands, a lot of the same annoyances with the series persist, especially when it comes to inventory management and the sheer amount of meaningless loot. Really, Wonderlands' worst offense is that it can't get over the series' legacy of looting and shooting, and misses the opportunity to take real inspiration from the tabletop worlds that it parodies. | Read review |
Eurogamer | Chris Tapsell | Not Recommended | 03-23-2022 | Despite an endearing commitment to its relentlessly positive tone, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands almost feels designed by a dice roll. | Read review |
Everyeye.it | Giovanni Panzano | 8 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a product that, despite being more contained than its older brothers, does not rest on its laurels and manages to entertain the player for more than a few hours thanks to the presence of a fun primary quest and many secondary activities that have nothing to envy to the missions of the campaign. | Read review |
FingerGuns | Sean Davies | 9 / 10 | 04-08-2022 | An essential game for fans of Borderlands, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a spin off that’s worth exploring. What’s more, this game feels like a turning point for the series as it becomes smarter and funnier than it is goofy and crude. | Read review |
Forbes | Paul Tassi | 7.8 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Given that all my progress from the review build is about to be wiped, I’m not sure I’ll go through it all again to start re-grinding the endgame, but perhaps on a new class. Melee this time? That fact is what I really want to see is some substantial leaps forward for this series, as it’s starting to feel pretty dated in a lot of ways, but I also have to understand what Wonderlands is, a game Gearbox made from home during the pandemic that’s meant to be a stopgap before Borderlands 4. And I do think it succeeds at that job well enough to please most fans. | Read review |
Game Informer | Andrew Reiner | 9.5 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Wonderlands is upbeat and fun from start to finish, offering a rewarding adventure filled with goofy characters, imaginative bosses, and a great sense of ownership over your character through it all. | Read review |
Game Revolution | Jason Faulkner | 3 / 5 stars | 03-23-2022 | Wonderlands is the safest, most paint-by-numbers, product-of-the-time game I’ve played in a while, and a serving of the same thing Gearbox has been dishing up for 10 years minus the humor. It’s the absolute opposite of avant-garde and simply reuses the Borderlands formula without improving on it in any tangible manner. While it’s more tolerable as a multiplayer game given that you’ll more readily be able to overlook its story and writing, it’s still a disappointing spin-off that takes away more from the source material than it gives back. | Read review |
Gameblog | Unknown | 7 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a nice spinoff from the main Borderlands series. While the class system is pretty enjoyable, most of the game is still based off classic Borderlands title, and as such, there isn't much new stuff to feat on. The overall game is still pretty decent with lots to do, and that lovely sense of humor. | Read review |
GameGrin | Neil Hetherington | 7 / 10 | 04-07-2022 | A jovial jaunt through a reskinned Borderlands experience. The humour and references are on point, but the short length left me disappointed… | Read review |
Gamersky | 奕剑者柴王 | 9.1 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is Gearbox Software's new attempt at looting shooter game. It builds a vast and magnificent fantasy world and tells a light-hearted but not clichéd adventure story. It is a complete upgrade of the "Build" system under the framework of the Borderlands franchise and offers new possibilities for the future of the series with a highly replayable endgame mode. | Read review |
GamesBeat | Rachel Kaser | 70 / 100 | 04-06-2022 | For all the giggles Wonderlands gave me, a lot of the humor relies on certain Borderlands tropes that have never been my cup of tea. My main problem is that if the series has one good joke, it proceeds to grind the joke down to the gums, wringing all possible humor out of it. | Read review |

GameSpew | Kim Snaith | 8 / 10 | 03-30-2022 | If you don’t mind the odd teething problem, there really is so much to love about Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The campaign will keep you glued to your seat thanks to its excellent storytelling and fantastic voice cast. And its world outshines just about any we’ve seen in the Borderlands series yet; it’s huge, and offers so much scope to explore even beyond the main story and side quests. Its endgame is promising too, offering plenty of reason to keep jumping back in. | Read review |

GameWatcher | Bogdan Robert Mateș | 7.5 / 10 | 04-05-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands plays it safe, never leaning enough into its fantasy elements or bringing any significant changes to the Borderlands formula, but offering more of the fun looting and shooting the main series is known for. It boasts better writing and humor than Borderlands 3 while throwing in interesting spells and class powers that spice up its otherwise familiar combat system. | Read review |
GamingBolt | Matt Bianucci | 8 / 10 | 03-31-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands doesn't stray too far from the Borderlands series, but it doesn't need to when the consistently funny characters and familiar yet satisfying gameplay are this enjoyable from front to back. | Read review |

Hey Poor Player | Shane Boyle | 4.5 / 5 stars | 03-27-2022 | Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a resounding success and is easily the most fun I’ve had with the series since the release of Borderlands 2. In some respects, I actually think there is a case to be made that this is the best playing game that Gearbox has made, so positive are the changes made to the narrative delivery, class system, and the introduction of the overworld. If you’re a fan of Borderlands, Wonderlands is an extremely easy sell. But, even if you’re a lapsed fan feeling the burn after so many years of Borderlands products, there is so much that is fresh on display that I think you owe yourself a visit to the Wonderlands. | Read review |
Hobby Consolas | Álvaro Alonso | 88 / 100 | 03-23-2022 | Wonderlands injects a dose of RPG and madness into the "looter shooter" formula. The result is a game full of surprises and good ideas, and the most complete and fun Borderlands to date. | Read review |

IGN Italy | Francesco Destri | 7.9 / 10 | 03-25-2022 | The excellent gunplay and the good RPG features are the best elements that Gearbox has created in this weird-yet-great Borderlands fantasy spin-off. IGN Middle East | Zaher Albalbisi | 8 / 10 | 04-08-2022 | Gameplay and graphics wise, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands may not push the series forward but it's one of the best games with its very fun and memorable quests that sometimes sets a new standard for what a side quest should be in a video game | Read review |
IGN Spain | David Oña | 7 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a parody of the role-playing board game Borderlands that, as a spin-off, fulfils both in terms of gameplay and the new progression systems, delivering a fun and addictive proposal that is halfway through the interpretation of its overworld. A remarkable game that I enjoyed, beyond the heavy text, because in the shooting and aesthetics it shows its greatest virtues. | Read review |
Merlin'in Kazanı | Samet Basri Taşlı | 78 / 100 | 04-05-2022 | Published as a separate game, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands has managed to bring a different flavor to the Borderlands series, but it is a game with a lot of untapped potential. | Read review |
Metro GameCentral | GameCentral | 6 / 10 | 04-01-2022 | A reskinned Borderlands 3 that would've been much better off as an expansion, given it's too short to justify the outrageously high price tag and too long to hide the lack of variety and new ideas. | Read review |
MMORPG.com | Garrick D. Raley | 8.5 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands isn’t a masterclass in game design or storytelling, but it is a notable improvement over Gearbox Studio’s previous entries. Multiple quality of life additions, like holding down the melee button to just keep swinging as well as changing the Mayhem Mode difficulties to the new and less confusing Chaos Levels, are a great step forward. The weapons feel more inventive than before, and the addition of spells make combat more fun and engaging. It’s unfortunate that the story fails to live up to the events in Assault on Dragon’s Keep but it’s still more memorable than what Gearbox has recently done. The fact that Chaos Runs are randomized and offer a rogue-like mix already makes it one of the strongest launches for endgame play. | Read review |
New Game Network | Alex Varankou | 70 / 100 | 04-04-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a full-priced offering that seems like it would have been better suited as DLC, like its predecessor. It's still a solid shooter with some whacky characters and a fun story, but it doesn't take any risks or innovate on the established formula, and the multiplayer issues are an annoyance. | Read review |
Niche Gamer | Fingal Belmont | 8 / 10 | 04-06-2022 | The droll and shockingly boring game loop is spread far too thin. The level requirements demand the player go and grind with side quests, but that also means having to endure more of the same tired, coma-inducing gameplay. After a while the inane chatter of the characters and the constant hail of bullets become white noise and the game’s basic components become all too apparent. | Read review |

PC Invasion | Kurt Perry | 8 / 10 | 04-01-2022 | Following the disaster that was Borderlands 3's writing, there was some serious pressure on Gearbox to deliver this time around. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands isn't a spectacular game and doesn't live up to Borderlands 2, but I doubt most people will care about that. The simple fact is that we got a Borderlands game that is fun with a story that isn't painful to experience. That's a win in my book. | Read review |
PCGamesN | Phil Iwaniuk | 8 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Still recognisably Borderlands, but the sense of place and improvisation elevates Tiny Tina's Wonderlands beyond expectations. The overworld map feels tacked-on, but Gearbox commits to the bit in every other aspect. | Read review |
PlayStation Universe | Simon Sayers | 8.5 / 10 | 04-03-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands can easily keep up with the main Borderlands games and feels like a high production value game, not like a smaller spinoff you might expect. There's a lot of content underpinned by fantastic gameplay. Just the endgame is a bit repetitive. If you're a fan of Borderlands this is highly worth your attention. | Read review |

PSX Brasil | Bruno Henrique Vinhadel | 85 / 100 | 04-08-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is refreshing and shows a different approach to the traditional Gearbox formula. Push Square | John Cal McCormick | 6 / 10 | 03-30-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands retains the inherently entertaining shootin' and lootin' gameplay that the Borderlands series is known for, but you're frequently held back from enjoying it because of repetitive missions, tedious busywork, oodles of padding, and the game's relentless need to be funny. The Outerhaven Productions | Kyle Simcox | 4 / 5 stars | 04-03-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands had the potential to take RPG games and make them into something more like an RPG/FPS hybrid, but Gearbox forgot to keep the RPG bits in other sections of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands outside of the story. TheSixthAxis | Jason Coles | 9 / 10 | 03-30-2022 | Wonderlands mixes over-the-top combat, wonderfully absurd guns, interesting classes, and fun characters to create the best version of this series I've ever played. It's weirdly wholesome, patently absurd, and frequently obnoxious, but the intent feels far purer than what you might expect. When you then add in the excellent voice acting, and the fact that you can play this through with friends and strangers, you get a really entertaining FPS RPG that I'd be happy to recommend to anyone. | Read review |
TrueAchievements | Luke Albiges | 3.5 / 5 stars | 03-30-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands expands on Borderlands 2's Assault on Dragon Keep DLC in some interesting and meaningful ways, but feels like it struggles to stretch out what was a fantastic gimmick for a shorter expansion to fill a full-length campaign without falling back on repeating its material. Gunplay is typically great and the numbers-go-up power fantasy as gratifying as ever, but even though it's notably less aggressive than Borderlands 3 in its attempts to make you laugh, there are still plenty of limp pop culture references and cringeworthy 'topical' gags that are likely to grate on even fans of the series' brash humour. | Read review |

Though the ending didn't land as well as it could have, the entire journey is well worth playing. | Read review |
Worth Playing | Cody Medellin | 8 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | In the end, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a solid spin-off to the main Borderlands series. The core game remains the same as before, but new additions, like the melee system and class combinations, make things feel fresh. The campaign runs at a good length, while the side-quests and post-game dungeon randomizer are enough to keep you going before the need for DLC kicks in. It really is the shooter that you already know with a medieval RPG skin on it. Since the moment-to-moment gameplay is still enjoyable, fans won't mind the offbeat detour. | Read review |
Xbox Achievements | Richard Walker | 75 / 100 | 03-28-2022 | Should you be in the market for more of Borderlands' frenetic looter-shooter mania, then Tiny Tina's Wonderlands fits the bill, its uniquely daft take on fantasy tropes and tabletop board games proving robust and infectiously good fun. | Read review |
Zoomg | افشین پیروزی | 8 / 10 | 04-06-2022 | Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, to a large extent, is what to expect from a sub-version of the Borderlands collection; a chaotic, fun and entertaining experience. | Read review |
