The Crew 2 outperforms its predecessor in almost every respect, incorporating planes and boats in a far more approachable play-what-you-like format. The larger experience is underwhelming, however, and buckles under its own ambition.

“A successful sequel where it counts the most, only a few potholes slow The Crew 2 down in its drive to become the ultimate road trip.”
Matthew Kato (Game Informer)
6/10
“Other than brief moments, no part of The Crew 2 is captivating enough, including the rubberband-based gameplay, the events themselves, and the overall setup of the open world”
Kirk McKeand (VG247)
“Unfortunately, The Crew 2 is just too inconsistent to fully recommend.”

3DNews | Алексей Лихачев | 5 / 10 | 07-15-2018 | Ubisoft didn't fix anything that was wrong about The Crew, and instead made a game similar to Steep. But without beautiful snow and funny fails. | Read review |

AR12Gaming | Volksaudi | 7.5 / 10 | 07-23-2018 | If you look at sales figures for The Crew 2 recently, you would've noticed that it hasn't been performing particularly well considering the amount of money that went into PR, advertisements and sponsorships. | Read review |
Areajugones | Sergio Álvarez | 8 / 10 | 07-01-2018 | The Crew 2 outperforms its predecessor in almost all aspects. New disciplines, vehicles and better graphics join a cooperative multiplayer really fun that we have attached to the title for weeks. | Read review |

Attack of the Fanboy | William Schwartz | 3 / 5 stars | 06-26-2018 | Jack of all trades, master of none. The Crew 2 is ultimately a more enjoyable experience than the first game, but one that also buckles under its own ambition. | Read review |

BaziCenter | Bahram Bigharaz | 6.5 / 10 | 07-01-2018 | The Crew 2 has a lot of potential, but its great graphics and sound design doesn’t make up for its lack of content, lack of online multiplayer and weak AI. Maybe it’ll get better via monthly updates as the previous version did, but at the moment, The Crew 2 is not much superior to its predecessor. | Read review |
Bazimag | Fardin Bagherian | 7.5 / 10 | 07-20-2018 | This title may have some problems, but the freedom that's in offer combined with a cohesive driving system manage to make a fun experience. And although there are shortcomings in the story and Free-roam sections, the ability to choose from a vast amount of options while playing the game, surely offer amusing hours for the Gamer. If developers would have focused on the story and other fore-mentioned areas as much as they did on having many numbers of options, we would be facing a very complete racing experience. But even so, it is still very possible to thoroughly enjoy Crew 2 and remember it for a long time. | Read review |
Cerealkillerz | Gabriel Bogdan | 7.9 / 10 | 06-27-2018 | The Crew 2 is definitely an improvement over the first title but still can't really iron out all of the flaws from its predecessor. Because of the huge amount of vehicles and events, racing fans will get a good starting point but we'll still have to wait for future pvp, endgame and more updates in the upcoming DLCs to get the full experience. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Preston Dozsa | 5 / 10 | 07-02-2018 | The Crew 2 has a beautiful open world, but average driving, strange design choices and weak multiplayer prevent it from utilizing it to its full potential. | Read review |
Cheat Code Central | Lucas White | 3 / 5 stars | 06-27-2018 | Even the cool opening sequence, in which the world literally bends itself into a new state as you swap vehicles, doesn't carry over to the game. You just press a button and morph to the other type, and perhaps fall with a big clunk from the air before driving off as if nothing happens. It's like banging hot wheels together, if the rest of the cars in the box you aren't playing with hate you. I was kinda hoping for a more mature Diddy Kong Racing with some more hardcore trappings. Instead, I got a headache from squinting ahead for turn arrows and playing with loot boxes. | Read review |
COGconnected | Erin Castillo | 65 / 100 | 07-02-2018 | Maybe sometime next year The Crew 2 will start to feel like the sequel we all deserve, but as it stands right now, it certainly doesn't. | Read review |
ComiConverse | Jordan Samuel | 3 / 5 stars | 07-02-2018 | The sequel is a total mixed bag, filled with odd design choices and pointless campaign race that don't match the tone. | Read review |
Critical Hit | Darryn Bonthuys | 7.5 / 10 | 07-02-2018 | No matter the element, The Crew 2 is a fantastic vehicle in which to master the ins and outs of speed. It's just a pity that Ubisoft's new world of varied racing disciplines feels hollow and uneven as it won't hold your attention for very long in its current incarnation. | Read review |
Cubed3 | Tomas Barry | 6 / 10 | 07-03-2018 | It looked promising, but The Crew 2 falls wide of the mark, in infuriating fashion. It tries to grab people's attention with its technically impressive map, its instant vehicle-switching, and with even flashier motors, yet all of this is just a deluded sales pitch for a seriously lacking package. It doesn't address any of the fundamental flaws of the original, such as repetitive races and too many bland open spaces. The motors from within each vehicle type aren't distinguishable in handling at all, the physics are poor, and the voice acting and music are irritating. There's no sense of achievement from anything, thanks to a poor XP and unlock system. Worse yet, there's no real multiplayer to speak of | Read review |

Destructoid | Jordan Devore | 7 / 10 | 06-27-2018 | I think the developers made the right call by branching out with planes and boats and going for a more approachable play-what-you-like format. They just spread themselves too thin trying to cram it all in. | Read review |
Digiato | Pedram Bahadori | 65 / 100 | 07-27-2018 | It may sound repetitive to say but The Crew 2 is another incompelete experience deleivered by Ubisoft. Digital Chumps | Nathaniel Stevens | 9 / 10 | 08-31-2017 | The Crew 2 is a beautiful follow-up to the first. It packs a lot of punch inside of it and it's friendly to all types of gamers. Digitally Downloaded | Brad L. | 3 / 5 stars | 07-05-2018 | At the start of this review, I came in thinking I would really like The Crew 2. DualShockers | Michael Ruiz | 5 / 10 | 07-09-2018 | Sure, I can fly a plane as high as I can then drop from the sky as a car and continue my path to nothingness but the fun of that can only last so long. I wanted The Crew 2 to be the new pillar for arcade-style racers. Instead, we are presented with a missed opportunity. | Read review |
Easy Allies | Daniel Bloodworth | 2.5 / 5 stars | 07-23-2018 | The Crew 2 makes some improvements over the original, but drags due to pointless features and lightweight RPG mechanics that drain away any sense of challenge. | Read review |
EGM | Josh Harmon | 6.5 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | The Crew 2‘s digital recreation of American remains as inviting as it was in the first game, and the diverse event types and new air and water vehicles mix things up in a good way. Eventually, however, the aggressively grindy loop of replaying races to upgrade your vehicles will leave you feeling like a theme park custodian: You're surrounded by attractions that should be such fun, yet you're stuck doing mindless chores instead. | Read review |
Eurogamer | Oli Welsh | Not Recommended | 06-29-2018 | Despite the flashy boats and planes, this sequel to the ambitious open-world racing game is underdeveloped where it counts. | Read review |
FingerGuns | Paul Collett | 6 / 10 | 07-03-2018 | There is a lot of fun to be had in The Crew 2 though and hopefully if Ubisoft’s post-game updates are as plentiful as their other games this sequel can blossom into something wonderful. | Read review |

Game Volt | Mohamed Ashmawy | 6 / 10 | 07-04-2018 | The game, unfortunately, represented a big frustration after waiting for a long time and many were hoping it becomes Forza Horizon available for all platforms and compete with it, but the game compels you in some way to go back and update Forza Horizon 3 instead of investing more hours in it, we're used to Ubisoft on Support and update games and listen to criticisms but there's a lot in the game that can't be fixed with updates specifically for the open world activities, the game really pushes you to think, did we need a second installment of the series with current state? | Read review |
Gameblog | Julien Hubert | 7 / 10 | 07-29-2018 | The Crew 2 did a good job on improving the original game. It's a little bit more of everything, and the new road/sea/air feature offers a lot of fun and variety. Some new race categories are much better than others however (the bike races are particularly bad), and the driving controls are still basic compared to what we can expect from a 2018 racing game. | Read review |
GameCrate | Justin Woo | 8.5 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | The Crew 2 transforms America into a high speed sandbox with unmatched variety. Terrorize New York's West Side Highway? Check. Buzz the Pentagon in a prop plane? Check. Leave tread marks in New Mexico desert? Check. There's a lot to do here, and it feels great to do it, particularly for casual racing fans, while sim fans who want to just chill out and go fast in their home city will also enjoy themselves. The Crew 2's minor flaws could easily be ironed out with a few quality of life patches. | Read review |
Gamefa | Hossein Ghazali | 8 / 10 | 07-04-2018 | The Crew 2 is a fantastic racing game with its own great and unique features that made it different from the rest of the Racing games. Having four different modes, with so many beautiful and pro cars, airplanes, boats and also a great map to play, make The Crew 2 very fun to play, even with some problems and issues that the game has. Racing with your favorite cars and vehicles in an incredible map and beautiful cities of United States, make you one of the best experiences you ever had in racing games. it would be definitely better If The Crew 2 had an online PVP section from the beginning, but Street Racing, OffRoad, Freestyle and Pro Racing, made a game that absolutely worth your time and money. | Read review |
GameGrin | Adam Wilkin | 5 / 10 | 07-28-2018 | A great driving game, a poor racing game. Has some technical issues involving controller support and their idea of multiplayer is somewhat unusual for this genre. A game I would happily spend more time with, but can't recommend highly in its current state. | Read review |
GameMAG | Azzy | 7 / 10 | 07-25-2018 | Despite significant progress in comparison with the first game, The Crew 2 has a number of problems with graphics, weak AI, lack of PVP modes... Always online and races on the planes are also disappointing elements. But even so, you can spend hundreds of hours in The Crew 2 and have a lot of fun. | Read review |
GamePitt | Rob Pitt | 7.8 / 10 | 07-07-2018 | The Crew 2 is a hard game to critique. It has so many things going for it, from the diversity in gameplay, the plethora of available vehicles, and the overall fun and excitement it creates. However, it’s matched with equally disappointing aspects such as the pointless free-roam mode, the annoying photo-mode challenges, the indestructible obstacles, and the annoyingly ‘perfect’ AI. It initially feels like the game is ‘pay to win’ as you are unable to afford the better vehicles for the events you are entering. This is until you dedicate a few hours to the game and begin to realise that after a while the game will progress at the level you are, thus opening up new events and offering more money in line with what you need. | Read review |
GamePro | Benjamin Braun | 76 / 100 | 06-28-2018 | The Crew 2 does not achieve the perfection of a Forza Horizon, but outweighs its weaknesses with variety and rich racing action. | Read review |
Gamerheadquarters | Jason Stettner | 7 / 10 | 07-01-2018 | The Crew 2 is certainly interesting from a technical stand point with how instant such an expansive open world runs, it just feels empty not having any sort of narrative structure. | Read review |
Gamers Heroes | Blaine Smith | 7 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | The Crew 2 is a vast improvement on the original in every aspect. The environments offer a vast, exciting, and expansive world to explore. The huge variety of racing events, alongside a near endless progression system, promises hours of play time, and the car customization is the best we have seen this generation. | Read review |
Gamersky | 北方凛 | 8.7 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | The Crew 2 successfully expand its stage from ground to sky and sea, bringing a new trend to racing games. It still has some problems with the AI, handling and graphics performance, but overall it is a decent game with a good reproduction of American landscapes. | Read review |
GameSkinny | Ty Arthur | 6 / 10 | 06-30-2018 | A lack of focus clearly hurts the game overall. There is plenty to do to be sure, and a wide range of race types, but The Crew 2 seems like its trying to hard to be an unrealistic arcade racing entry, a hardcore street race simulation, or a loot-drop MMO, and the fun kind of gets lost in the mix. | Read review |
GameSpew | Richard Seagrave | 8 / 10 | 07-02-2018 | Basically, no matter what floats your boat, there's a good chance that The Crew 2 has it. And that's why I can't help but love it. Warts and all. | Read review |
GameSpot | Edmond Tran | 8 / 10 | 06-27-2018 | As far as its single-player experience goes, Ubisoft's open-world driving game is fun, varied, and accessible. | Read review |

GameZone | Cade Onder | 7 / 10 | 06-28-2018 | While there are issues big and small with The Crew 2, it's still a lot of fun thanks to its varied content offerings and massive world. It almost comes close to meeting its full potential but it's still an enjoyable follow-up to Ubisoft's first entry in the racing franchise. There's clearly a foundation for something much grander and I hope Ivory Tower can learn from their shortcomings here and deliver the ultimate racing game that rivals the likes of Forza Horizon with The Crew 3. | Read review |
Gaming Nexus | Kevin O'Connell | 6.5 / 10 | 07-11-2018 | In a way The Crew 2 is a better game from the old, but in another way, it is also very much the same flawed racer. There is a lot of good here: open world, four racing types, huge customization, and tons of races. However, as a racing game, you'd do better with Mario Kart. | Read review |
GamingBolt | Shubhankar Parijat | 7 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | The Crew 2 is an ambitious game, yet an inconsistent one. It has many flaws that can't be ignored, but at the end of the day, it still manages to provide an undeniably enjoyable experience. | Read review |
GamingTrend | Travis Northup | 70 / 100 | 07-09-2018 | The Crew 2 is an ambitious undertaking that puts over-the-top arcade racing front and center. Though it makes large strides in the right direction over its predecessor, it suffers from odd game design choices, a lack of PvP, and a lackluster presentation that puts it squarely in the rearview mirror of its competition. | Read review |
GearNuke | Khurram Imtiaz | 7 / 10 | 07-10-2018 | It is slightly disappointing to see how Ubisoft decided to just focus on making a bigger open world game while forgetting the essentials of what makes them so great. The Crew 2 has a lot of potential in the future with free updates and content that might be added to it, but in its current launch state, it is, unfortunately, a shallow experience that doesn't have much to offer for those who are looking for a competent racing game. | Read review |
God is a Geek | Gary Bailey | 5 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | While it certainly improves upon the original in many ways, The Crew 2 is a step backwards overall. Its rubberband AI is some of the worst in recent memory and its version of America feels empty, not at all like Forza Horizon, the game it really wants to be. | Read review |
GRYOnline.pl | Krzysztof Mysiak | 7.5 / 10 | 07-02-2018 | The Crew 2 is a whisker away from being a great game. You can spend an entire afternoon just enjoying the cars and driving without a specific purpose, while taking in some of the marvelous views, and it feels really good. However, the major downsides – ubiquitous copy-pasting and a rather scanty number of genuine innovations – don't allow me to recommend this game to absolutely everyone; not just yet. | Read review |

IGN Middle East | Moustafa Gad | 7 / 10 | 07-04-2018 | The Crew 2 suffers from limited activities and challenges, with the exception of major quests, the difficulty of controlling air races, the lack of game play for the multiplayer mode at least for the time being, AI which is the first major problem in this game, not to mention the absence of the story mode. The game offers a larger and more detailed world and the ability to move between different vehicles easily and a more accurate development system compared to the first part, Ubisoft still has the opportunity to fix the mistakes of the game in the future and bring it back on track. | Read review |

Player2.net.au | Matt Hewson | Not Recommended | 06-28-2018 | So with The Crew 2, I am left a little split on my feelings. There is nothing in the game I can point at and say “that’s bad” but there is undeniably something missing, something lacking. It is a game I will probably play on and off in the future, dipping in for a quick blast of boating or off-road fun, but I don’t think I will sink any more serious time into. This is a polished game that looks great and basically does what it says on the box but still is somehow less than the sum of its parts. | Read review |
PlayStation Universe | John-Paul Jones | 8 / 10 | 07-05-2018 | An avalanche of racing goodness, hokey social media anchoring and an oddly sparse open world aren't enough to prevent The Crew 2 from improving on the original in every way and providing a multi-disciplined racer that is quite unlike any other on PS4. | Read review |

Press Start | Brodie Gibbons | 6 / 10 | 07-02-2018 | Despite its satisfying core loops and drip-feeding of loot slathered in mechanical jargon, it's hard to recommend The Crew 2 based on what many would consider to be its selling points. The world is barren despite being billed as a greatest hits of American landmarks and 'car feel' itself is frustratingly basic and holds your hand far too much. PSX Brasil | Luis Guilherme Machado Camargo | 70 / 100 | 07-08-2018 | The Crew 2 is a good racing game with a vast open world and that, at times, is a truly wonderful experience. Push Square | Alex Stinton | 6 / 10 | 07-04-2018 | While it's disappointing to see The Crew 2 fall into some of the same pitfalls as its predecessor, its open world remains one of the most impressive playgrounds, in terms of scale, out there. Sure, there's very little reason to explore its vast road networks outside of its visual appeal, but the sheer variety of different events, from nerve racking aerial races to coast-to-coast endurance runs, will still get your heart racing. | Read review |

Saving Content | Scott Ellison II | 4 / 5 stars | 07-06-2018 | The Crew 2 reinvents the series for the better. Ubisoft realized they had something special with The Crew, but focused on the wrong parts. We again get the entire (albeit condensed) United States of America to drive through, in this nationwide celebration of racing is something worth remembering. The Crew 2 has a generic social media system combined with over-the-top live television acting that gets away from itself. It does however come together in all the right ways this time. The Crew 2 is far and away better than the original, and has systems in place to keep you coming back for more. | Read review |

Shacknews | Chris Jarrard | 5 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | While I found the larger experience to be underwhelming, the game does offer some high points. Moving around the game map and fast traveling is instantaneous and seamless. While I didn't find the game's menus to be as functional as I'd like, they all look really sharp and fit within the game's aesthetic. While music tastes are subjective, I found the included soundtrack to be very well done (as it was in the first Crew game) and it made some of the less exciting races more tolerable. Swapping between vehicles works very well and is probably the coolest part of the game. | Read review |
Sirus Gaming | David Rix | 5.5 / 10 | 07-18-2018 | Its great for those who are really into collecting and experiencing different vehicle types, but aside from that, it’s not a game that’ll keep you coming back for more. The teams at Ivory Tower need to release some major updates and events if they want to keep this game afloat. Until then, The Crew 2 just barely chugs along. | Read review |

Despite all the cool features that are touted, it the end is just a soulless racing game that doesn't excel at anything but also doesn't really fail in any significant way. | Read review |
SomHráč.sk | Martin Kubeš | 80 / 100 | 07-16-2018 | The Crew 2 is a worthy successor to the original game. It's not perfect, but still good enough to keep you entertained for a long time and in time, it's only gonna get bigger. You have to accept some shortcomings that hamper the game somewhat, though. | Read review |
SpazioGames | Matteo Bussani | 7 / 10 | 07-06-2018 | The Crew 2 has a huge and solid structure, but in terms of quality the game in some elements lacks of detail, especially in graphics and driving system. We hope in the great support of Ubisoft for the contents to come. | Read review |
Stevivor | Nicholas Simonovski | 7.5 / 10 | 07-03-2018 | The Crew 2 is very similar to what the original offered: arcade fun. | Read review |
TheSixthAxis | Aran Suddi | 7 / 10 | 07-04-2018 | The Crew 2 is a fun game in a lot of ways, but lacklustre in others. For every enjoyable event there may be another that is frustrating or simply a little boring. The open world can be great to explore, but thanks to being able to fast travel to every event you don't ever actually need to physically cross the USA. Ubisoft should be commended for really taking a risk with The Crew 2 by adding so much and taking proceedings less seriously, but while The Crew 2 is a good arcade racer it still doesn't quite rank among the best. | Read review |
ThisGenGaming | Robby Bisschop | 7 / 10 | 08-06-2018 | It may be flawed, but there's a ton of content and the base game is still fun to play , so I'm still recommending this to fans of the genre. | Read review |
Thumbsticks | Tom Baines | 3.5 / 5 stars | 07-29-2018 | It's hard to ignore the unsavoury taste that comes along with The Crew 2's social media-based progression system. That being said, most people will accept that it's just a somewhat topical stand-in for an experience point system – and skip through all of the awful vlogger posturing and horrid presentation – to find at its heart a knockabout arcade racer with the capacity to make you smile. | Read review |
TrueAchievements | Dave Horobin | 3.5 / 5 stars | 07-17-2018 | Throw in some odd design choices, a dull story, and lukewarm presentation and The Crew 2 is an ambitious game that doesn't achieve its potential, nor does it approach the standard of some other open-world racers available today. | Read review |
TrueGaming | محمد جابر الصهيبي | 7.5 / 10 | 06-30-2018 | The Crew 2 has a beautiful open world and there is a lot of variety in its races, but the weak character models and the absence of competitive mode at launch held this game back. | Read review |
Twinfinite | Chris Jecks | 3 / 5 stars | 07-02-2018 | The Crew 2 still isn't fully delivering the ambitious open-world racer that Ivory Tower nor Ubisoft wants the series to become, and I can't help but feel it's because it's trying to accommodate both the single-player and multiplayer camps. Its single-player content, while fun, lacks any real impact due to its literally non-existent story, and its the absence of any PvP feels like a massive missed opportunity. | Read review |
USgamer | Mike Williams | 3 / 5 stars | 06-29-2018 | The Crew 2 offers players the chance to drive everything with a motor across a shrunken version of the United States. It provides a fun driving experience and looks stunning, but ultimately it lacks focus from being pulled in too many directions. There are bright spots here and there, like Monster Truck trick courses or Rally Cross events, but The Crew 2 falters in equal measure. | Read review |
VG247 | Kirk McKeand | Not Recommended | 06-29-2018 | Unfortunately, The Crew 2 is just too inconsistent to fully recommend. | Read review |
VideoGamer | Adam Cook | 5 / 10 | 06-29-2018 | It's not bad, but it lacks imagination outside of the singular gimmick that you can change vehicles at any time, and ends up just being rather average. | Read review |
Wccftech | Chris Wray | 6.5 / 10 | 07-05-2018 | The Crew 2 is an impressively large game with a lot to do. Cars, planes and boats, travelling the USA is fun. The problem is that almost everything else ends up feeling the same and, eventually, boring. | Read review |
We Got This Covered | Eric Hall | 3 / 5 stars | 07-03-2018 | The Crew 2 improves upon the many missteps of the original. The controls have been significantly improved, the grim story has been abandoned and the graphics are better than ever. However, thanks to limited online play and a lack of open-world activities, this sequel feels strangely unfinished. | Read review |
