So, anyway, yeah, Rollerdrome is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater with a gun, but it’s also a commentary on the capacity of violent entertainment to dull our senses to the violence in our actual lives. Good luck remembering that when you’re chasing an S-rank score.
Rollerdrome’s unexpected blend of skating and shooting is a joy to master, backed by an arresting art design, thumping soundtrack, and a surprisingly layered story.
Once you get to grips with its demands, Rollerdrome’s core concept is realised immaculately. With glorious backup from its retro stylings, each run is peppered with audacious stunts that would grace any action movie. It flags towards the end, however, thanks to an inelegant pile-on of difficulty, a lack of new twists, and disregard for its character’s story and narrative themes.

33bits | Rubén Rionegro | 85 / 100 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is addiction and adrenaline in its purest form, one of those games with a style as unique and personal as you don't usually see. The premise of mixing extreme sports with a shooter is great, to which is also added enough and varied content to encourage you to continue playing over and over again. Highly recommended. | Read review |
Bazimag | Ali Rezazadeh | 9 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | While final levels could have used more variety, Rollerdrome has made this genre mash-up look like a match made in heaven with a well-told story and addictive and action-packed gameplay combining some cool yet clever mechanics that will satisfy both skating and action-shooter fans. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Ridge Harripersad | 10 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | The Roll7 team have achieved an original greatness with Rollerdrome across the board: original concept, 80s nostalgia music and art—augmented with super fluid mechanics and gameplay. | Read review |
Checkpoint Gaming | Charlie Kelly | 7.5 / 10 | 08-15-2022 | Rollerdrome is an unbelievably fun single-player experience that hasn't quite reached its full potential. The explosive gunplay and rollerskating trickery are complemented by the picturesque yet bleak world all realised in a graphic novel art style. However, improvements can be made with some of the enemy types, bosses, and the inclusion of other competitors. Despite room for growth, this game is clearly being made by one hell of a talented team and Rollerdrome proves to be one hell of a shooter. | Read review |
Chicas Gamers | Adrián de Francisco | Recommended | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is the proof that two genres that seem distant from each other can go hand in hand and give a high quality game. We have a game with a frantic gameplay that seems simple, but is difficult and a short story, but interesting. | Read review |
COGconnected | Lou Sytsma | 85 / 100 | 08-16-2022 | Roll7 is to be applauded for putting together this unique shooter skater game. I really dug the 1970s vibe of the game both in the art direction and especially the score. This makes the game stand out aesthetically from other games. The only nit I have with the 2D art style, is that it makes judging jumps difficult due to the lack of depth perception. With a little practice, I was able to acclimate to it. Rollerdome is a blast to play, tailored to appeal to players of all skill types. | Read review |
Daily Mirror | Stefan Mieszek | 4 / 5 stars | 08-21-2022 | At its core, Rollerdrome threatens high-speed, adrenaline-pumping gameplay as you chase combos and high scores with fluid movement and tricking mechanics. It has a deceptively high amount of content hidden inside, with each of the four stages potentially taking a few hours to clear | Read review |
Daily Star | Tom Hutchison | 4 / 5 stars | 08-16-2022 | It would be top-tier with a multiplayer online component, maybe that could come in the inevitable sequel, but for now this is an excellent single player title that perfectly mixes two genres into a whole new style of video game. | Read review |
Digital Chumps | Alex Tudor | 9 / 10 | 11-05-2021 | Rollerdrome is one of the most unique combo-building games in years. Its combination of Tony Hawk-style skating with Max Payne-esque gunplay is a joy to play. Nailing combos while taking down a swath of diverse enemies does feel nice, even if it does get a bit overwhelming at times. Plenty of players will find a ton of challenges in repeat playthroughs of levels to achieve everything, and will assuredly be able to pull off some sweet moments. | Read review |
Eurogamer | Chris Tapsell | Recommended | 08-16-2022 | Roll7 blends genres with total mastery in Rollerdrome, one of the most breathlessly stylish and casually, outrageously cool games you'll ever play. | Read review |
Everyeye.it | Giovanni Panzano | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Despite being designed to be replayed several times, the Roll7 title does not have the necessary conditions to encourage users to spend a lot of time in the available levels or thanks to the endgame mode. That said, we are talking about a splendid pastime with a very effective core gameplay, capable of driving crazy even those who are not used to approaching experiences of this type. | Read review |
Forbes | Kris Holt | 9 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | If you’re looking for something a bit different to play this summer and have a Tony Hawk-sized action sports itch you need to scratch, Rollerdrome is absolutely worth checking out. | Read review |
Game Informer | Andrew Reiner | 8.5 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is a fantastic first foot forward. I adored the campaign gameplay and have a feeling my friend group will use this unique title for late-night scoring competitions. | Read review |
Game Revolution | Jason Faulkner | 3.5 / 5 stars | 08-17-2022 | Unfortunately, the package ends up feeling a bit bare. The story is window dressing, and the gameplay is lacking in variety. The lack of multiplayer also feels like a missed opportunity. Without it, there’s not much replayability other than an online leaderboard. | Read review |
Gamefa | Mostafa Zahedi | 6 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdome combines different elements like parkour movements, shooting and skating into a smooth experience. That being said, Rollerdome gets repetitive quite easily and lack of some in depth modes or features can be felt. Nevertheless, if you want to try shooting while doing some crazy stunt, give it a try! | Read review |
GameGrin | Mike Crewe | 9 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Fast-paced, challenging, and visually pleasing, Rollerdrome is a game that deserves all the praise heaped upon it. Strap on your skates and load up those pistols, it's time to dive into this brilliant skater-shooter! | Read review |
Gamersky | 前朝刘沛公 | 7.7 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome mixes rollerblading with 3rd person shooting in a unique art style, making it quite enjoyable. But the repetitive gameplay and high level of difficulty are somewhat disappointing. | Read review |
GameSpew | Richard Seagrave | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | If you’ve ever wondered what the combination of an extreme sports title and a third-person shooter would be like, Rollerdrome is the game for you. Its story might be a let-down, and some gameplay elements might not hit the mark as well as they should do, but on the whole this is a thoroughly original and entertaining affair. We hope we get to spend more time with Kara in the future, too, as there’s a lot of scope here for further violent high-octane antics. | Read review |
GameSpot | Phil Hornshaw | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Developer Roll7 excellently mixes high-scoring skating gameplay with shooter ideas to make a hybrid game that's tough to put down. | Read review |

GamingBolt | Ravi Sinha | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | If you're itching for a brand new third-person shooter with some unique mechanics, then Rollerdrome may be the game for you. Its presentation, arena design, controls and combat are superb, and make up for the otherwise short length. | Read review |
Geek Culture | Jake Su | 9 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | At the end of the day, Rollerdrome achieves near-perfection when it comes to the gameplay experience, handing players the key to go as far as they want to in mastering its varied systems, all in the name of being the last one standing. It is a celebration of unique gameplay that works flawlessly on all accounts, and although the narrative is not important, its presence only serves as an added bonus for those who like their mayhem with added context. Even in such a bleak future, Rollerdrome will have you feeling good every time you put on those wheels, and that’s a guarantee. | Read review |
Gert Lush Gaming | Jim Smale | 8.4 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | I really appreciate how you can tweak the settings so the game is as hard or as easy as you would like but either way, you cut it, the game is awesome and a must-play! | Read review |
God is a Geek | Chris White | 9.5 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is a phenomenal shooter that blends great combat and movement with a wonderful sense of progression, with stunning visuals and plenty of replayability. | Read review |

Hobby Consolas | Álvaro Alonso | 80 / 100 | 08-16-2022 | It's easy: if you like skate games like Tony Hawk's or Jet Set Radio and shooter games with clever mechanics and lots of spectacle, Rollerdrome it's the explosive combination you didn't know you needed. | Read review |

IGN Italy | Angelo Bianco | 7.9 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is an acrobatic shooter of undoubted value in terms of gameplay, frenetic and spectacular, thanks to its mix of armed clashes and tricks on roller-skate. In all the rest it fails to live up to Roll7's previous masterpieces, even if it remains a fresh gaming experience that can offer a good challenge. | Read review |
Impulsegamer | Abdul Saad | 4 / 5 stars | 08-19-2022 | Performance-wise, the game runs smoothly on PS5. The graphics are crisp, and I didn't encounter gameplay issues or frame rate dips. Overall, Rollerdrome is a well-rounded, incredibly fun, and immensely challenging but rewarding game. While the gameplay relies on being grindy and some of the narrative elements fall short, it still offers a highly enjoyable experience, especially for fans of action games. | Read review |
Luis Alamilla | Luis Alamilla | 8 / 10 | 08-20-2022 | While its short run time and lack of multiplayer is a slight bummer, especially the latter considering how fun movement is, I had a great time with Rollerdrome. Its face paced nature was addicting while short objectives and score-centric gameplay added a ton of replay value. It's a visually impressive-looking game, no matter the platform you're playing on. I just wish it did more with what it had, whether that's a deeper campaign or multiplayer of some sort because I think this game is just the beginning for this soon-to-be series. | Read review |
Metro GameCentral | Adam Starkey | 6 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | A sleek skating hybrid with plenty of compelling ideas and some stylish presentation, but the longer it goes on the more frustrating it becomes. | Read review |

Paste Magazine | Diego Nicolás Argüello | 9 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | It's fitting, then, that the championship's final subverts the expectation of the long, silent stroll through the hall by kicking the music in as soon as you start moving forward. This time the nerves are left in the dressing room. She's revisited her footsteps time and time again until she's ready for the grand finale. After tonight, everyone in the crowd is going to remember Kara Hassan's name. | Read review |

PC Invasion | Joshua Chu | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is exciting and fresh, where roller skating and gun shooting come together in perfect harmony to create a special and satisfying gameplay loop. | Read review |
PlayStation Universe | David Carcasole | 8.5 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is an incredible arcade shooter that combines fluid movement with addicting mechanical loops which encourage you to pull off visually appealing stunts with ease. Though your mileage may vary be you a high-score chaser or not, it never fails to be fun, and Rollerdrome is more than worth a look for any arcade shooter lover. | Read review |

Press Start | Brodie Gibbons | 7.5 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | In what is effectively Tony Hawk's Pro Skater meets The Running Man in a war of attrition, full of guns and vibrant colour, Rollerdrome is a well-crafted arena combat-survival game set atop jam skates. Though as solid as the core loop is, the game is let down by a narrative that fails to measure up to the game's pulsating setting as well as a disappointingly sparse range of arenas that you'll see far too often. | Read review |
Push Square | Liam Croft | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | If there's an award for game feel, Rollerdrome wins it by a country mile. Roll7 has crafted a short but supremely sweet experience that feels incredible to engage with. | Read review |
Saudi Gamer | Unknown | 8 / 10 | 08-18-2022 | A triumph in melding style with substance, a blistering experience once you get in the flow, but that requires skill and persistence that might be beyond some players. | Read review |
Saving Content | Scott Ellison II | 5 / 5 stars | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is simply brilliant, and a worthy contender for Game of the Year. The fact that we’ve gotten two banger games from Roll7 in the same year of this caliber is astounding. The precise controls are what Roll7 does best, coupled with intense combat is pure excellence. The leaderboard chasing among friends and enemies is why you’ll stay, but the Out for Blood mode will be the reason you don’t put it down. Rollerdrome is an exquisite mash-up of maintaining a combo while killing to survive that’s pure kineticism, the de facto “skate or die”. | Read review |
Screen Rant | Kyle Gratton | 4 / 5 stars | 08-16-2022 | Players who fancy the challenge of shooting for the optimal run to attain a personal best may get sucked in, but those hoping for much beyond the eponymous sport won't find a deep narrative or character development to latch onto. | Read review |
Shacknews | Ozzie Mejia | 7 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Despite its limitations, Roll7 should be lauded for putting out such an interesting idea. Rollerdrome feels like a seed that can flourish into something greater. Extreme sports games with this kind of gimmick don't come along often and it's worth strapping on some skates to experience. | Read review |

Stevivor | Steve Wright | 7.5 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome isn’t going to be for everyone. If you’ve got better reflexes than I and find things to be less of a challenge than I did, you can test your meddle against other real-world players thanks to online leaderboards in addition to an unlockable “Out for Blood” mode that amps up the difficulty (no thanks). If that excites you, then you certainly shouldn’t hesitate. | Read review |

The Outerhaven Productions | Kyle Simcox | 3 / 5 stars | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is a short, chaotic glimpse into a near dystopian future where the X-Games and the re-emergence of bloodsports have collided to bring viewers the most entertaining TV show ever. | Read review |
TheSixthAxis | Stefan L | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | With easy-to-grasp (but tricky to master) extreme sports, over-the-top arena combat, and a sublime audio-visual aesthetic, Rollerdrome deserves its place in the pantheon of 70s sci-fi sports fiction. | Read review |
TrueGaming | حسين الموسى | 7 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome created a unique, stylish action game that new players can enjoy and demonstrate their skills at, while also bringing older fans some of the magic Roll7 has been known for over the year. We liked this experimental game but some aspects could be improved. The game feels like the start for something more rich to come in the future. | Read review |
Twinfinite | Cameron Waldrop | 4 / 5 stars | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome combines the skate game feeling of satisfaction from landing the perfect trick, with the pulse-pounding adrenaline of fighting for your very life. Between the story that you must find for yourself and the varied arenas that throw new ways to move and do tricks, there’s never a dull moment to be found. Rollerdrome is by no means a long game, but it is one that is just so easy to pick up and play. | Read review |
Washington Post | Teddy Amenabar | Recommended | 08-16-2022 | If a rollerskating John Wick in a 70s synth bar sounds like a good time, then I have just the game for you. | Read review |
Wccftech | Nathan Birch | 6 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome produces some badass moments with its combination of X Games action and bullet-time violence, but it doesn’t replicate what made the OlliOlli games such Zenlike fun. Those looking for a challenge will find it here, but given Rollerdrome’s bland presentation, imperfect controls, and grueling approach to level design, many players will quickly skate on to something else. | Read review |
We Got This Covered | David Morgan | 4.5 / 5 stars | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is a beautiful creation. It’s DOOM Eternal meets Tony Hawk with thoughtful political ruminations and an art style to die for. We’re only about ten or fifteen bad years from a sport like this actually existing, so you might as well practice. | Read review |
WellPlayed | Adam Ryan | 8 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Blending the momentum of an extreme sport with the action of a third-person shooter, Rollerdrome creates a unique experience that will resonate with those who love to chase a high score. | Read review |
Worth Playing | Cody Medellin | 8.5 / 10 | 08-16-2022 | Rollerdrome is a solid action game that merges shooting and sports quite well. The blend creates loads of exciting moments that only seem to falter during boss fights. The number of levels and challenges feels just right. The concessions made for all skill levels is appreciated, and the presence of leaderboards and a bonus campaign ensures that there's plenty of incentive to keep people playing. Overall, Rollerdrome is a great title for those looking for something different. | Read review |
