Resident Evil Village struggles to escape the shadow of RE7, but it is genuinely engrossing in its own right. Combat is visceral, the environments are engaging and mysterious, and the story presents a memorable parade of eccentric characters.

Lady Dimitrescu’s towering presence is just the tip of the iceberg of what Resident Evil Village offers. This game takes everything you know about the iconic horror series and dials it up to eleven!
I think you should skip Resident Evil Village. The boss fights are forgettable, and the story isn’t compelling. I liked exploring the creepy environments, but the game itself never rises above being “fine.”
A grimly beautiful collection of killer horror set-pieces, with some of the most memorably grotesque enemies in Resi history.

33bits | Diego Sierra | 90 / 100 | 05-05-2021 | Capcom gives us the definitive Resident Evil to celebrate the saga's 25th anniversary. Not for being the best, not for being the most faithful to the roots, not for being the one that will cause the greatest impact in the industry and probably not for being the one that will occupy the most special place in the hearts of the players. , but yes for being a hilarious, varied, intense title, with a great sense of rhythm and, most important of all, for being the Resident Evil that has finally been able to combine in a balanced and harmonious way all the aspects that it saga has explored throughout its history. | Read review |
3DNews | Денис Щенников | 8.5 / 10 | 05-08-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a classic sequel to its predecessor. It is bigger, brighter, and more action-packed. Some horror fans could be disappointed, but nonetheless Village is a well-crafted mix of Resident Evil 4 and 7. | Read review |
Areajugones | Ronald Goncalves | 8.8 / 10 | 05-23-2021 | After the seventh listed installment of the saga is responsible for renewing it in excellence, Resident Evil 8 Village arrives to fully refine the formula. As a continuation and as an independent title, Ethan Winters' last voyage is an exceptional work and, at the same time, loaths to be part of all the discussions about the best games of 2021 thanks to a proposal that combines nostalgia and novelty in perfectly equal parts. | Read review |

Atomix | Alberto Desfassiaux | 90 / 100 | 05-05-2021 | Needless to say, if you're a fan of the series, especially what was done with Resident Evil VII a few years ago, you'll be very happy with what Resident Evil Village presents to us. What I would say is that you might want to lower your expectations for the size of the game and the developer's own ambitions a little. The eighth installment of this beloved saga is one that fulfills in a very good way almost everything it tries, carrying in a very dignified way with the name it represents, however, it is also true that we would have loved to have taken more important risks and that the events happened more calmly to present a longer adventure. Anyway, Capcom proves its worth again and it's still at the spearhead if we talk about AAA development. | Read review |
Attack of the Fanboy | Diego Perez | 4 / 5 stars | 05-07-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a great survival horror game that leans into the action and silliness of earlier entries in the series to mixed results. It's not as good as Resident Evil 7, and it's not as good as Resident Evil 4. It feels like a strange mixture of the two, and while it seems like it might be able to strike a good balance in its first half, the second half dashes any hope of that. It’s still a beautiful game with its fair share of scares, but it doesn’t really feel like a true next step forward for the franchise. | Read review |
AusGamers | Steve Farrelly | 8 / 10 | 05-06-2021 | Not to suggest your rendezvous with the Lady of the Castle isn't one to savour, or even tremble at, it's just that most of the released media and tone for Village has been centred around her and a bit of the village, but what they wholly amount for in the full product is essentially tutorial content, at best. | Read review |
BaziCenter | Mohammad Talebian | 8.5 / 10 | 05-08-2021 | Resident Evil Village is another step forward in the new direction that Capcom taking this series towards, and they did a great job by focusing on a slightly new approach compared to the previous version, emphasizing on some other praised features we knew and loved about the older entries in the series. Mix all this with fresh and beautiful visuals that looks like pre-rendered trailers from the older games and you have an almost flawless brand new RE game. | Read review |
Bazimag | Vahid Zohrabi Nejad | 8.2 / 10 | 05-10-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a very fulfilling package of action, puzzle and horror and the best possible continuation of this beloved series. It is on one hand a true classic Resident Evil experience and on other hand it has enough of new ideas to feel like a step forward. | Read review |
But Why Tho? | Kate Sanchez | 8 / 10 | 05-10-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a great game that embraces the elements of the series that we know and love while also carving out its own space nestled deep in dark fantasy. In fact, this game beautifully finds a middle ground to please existing fans of the franchise but also serves as a great entry point for new players. | Read review |
Cerealkillerz | Manuel Barthes | 8.8 / 10 | 05-10-2021 | Capcom continues the story of Ethan Winters with Resident Evil Village and closes his files in an impressive way. The playful mix of parts 4 and 7 convinces with fast-paced action, a gripping storyline and a few surprises. It doesn't have much to do with the origins of the series, but those who are positive about this reorientation will have a fantastic time in the eerily beautiful village. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Clement Goh | 9 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village raises the bar ever so slightly, but just enough for Capcom to maintain its grip in AAA survival horror experiences. For players, it might be hard to loosen their hands from the controller. | Read review |
Chalgyr's Game Room | Pierre-Yves Lanthier | 8.5 / 10 | 05-18-2021 | Overall Resident Evil Village is a fantastic entry into the realm of Resident Evil. It continues the storyline, it causes more questions than it answers, it allows for future entries to pick up from both the pre and post credits, and it was fun. Do I wish that Ethan Winters had more personality like our once again returning Chris Redfield? Yes. Was it enough to take me away from the gorgeous mountain views and the terrifying creepy haunted mansion on a hill? No, it sadly wasn’t and I really never want to see that house again! | Read review |
Checkpoint Gaming | Omi Koulas | 8 / 10 | 05-06-2021 | After the too close for comfort clash with the Baker family in Louisana, Resident Evil Village attempts to match that creepy tone and do more. Much more. As a result, this tale has facets of methodical horror combined with the ridiculous action of Resident Evil 5 or 6. While some players may not enjoy one or the other, undeniably Capcom does both very well. A better mix of the survival horror and extreme action could have made this stronger overall, as the messy pacing, lacking antagonist development, and easing difficulty hurt the overall adventure. The final package is still a wonderful spectacle of a video game. It’s entertaining, it’s engrossing, and it’s Resident Evil in every aspect. With the best visual/audio design in the series’ and a satisfying Metroidvania world design, Resident Evil Village is unmissable. | Read review |
Chicas Gamers | Igone Martínez | Recommended | 05-08-2021 | Resident Evil Village keep the same story and first person from RE7. It's a great horror game, with more action than survival and different enemies to be a "resident" game. Easy to enjoy but it will get the classic games fans mad for not including zombies. Does Lady Dimitrescu need zombies...? I don't think so | Read review |
COGconnected | Jaz Sagoo | 87 / 100 | 05-08-2021 | Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Resident Evil Village is a fitting tribute to the history of the franchise. Although some of the enigmatic characters are not given the screentime they deserve, they are incredibly realized through the environments that evoke the personality of its inhabitant. Perhaps the game could have taken more risks in this outing, however, this dastardly showcase of the macabre is intoxicating. | Read review |
Critical Hit | Brad Lang | 9 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil: Village is equal parts terrifying and empowering. It's haunting, tense, and filled with all kinds of gruesome action you'll only ever see in a franchise that revels in its campy nature. Fans of the franchise will no doubt pick up on its familiar beats, but that's for the best as it strikes a happy balance between fresh and familiar. | Read review |
Cultured Vultures | Stephen Wilds | 8 / 10 | 05-07-2021 | Ethan Winters is having another bad day as he fights to save his daughter in an adventure that has a lot to offer, even if it falls just short of its predecessor. | Read review |
Daily Mirror | JC Suttun | 4 / 5 stars | 05-06-2021 | Sometimes things get a bit too far fetched even for a Resi title, which has the unfortunate side effect of momentarily undermining the otherwise well-crafted horror atmosphere. However, Resident Evil Village remains an outstanding slice of survival horror that carries the series' torch in grand fashion. | Read review |
Destructoid | Chris Carter | 9 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | I don't think Resident Evil Village is going to be very divisive per se: I suspect the reaction will be generally positive. But it's going to definitely spark some conversations as to how it stacks up against the current darling of RE7, and it has a long hill to climb to match its success financially. As for me, I think it complements it quite well, and then some. | Read review |
Digital Chumps | Ben Sheene | 9 / 10 | 03-04-2020 | Resident Evil Village infuses the newfound first-person horror of Resident Evil 7 with the tense action survival of genre-defining Resident Evil 4. Digital Trends | Giovanni Colantonio | 3 / 5 stars | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is an uneven anthology of horror movie send-ups. Sometimes it offers a truly exciting vision of the series’ future with imaginative world-building and rewarding exploration. Other times, it’s a fairly run-of-the-mill shooter that struggles to provide any real stakes or tension. Those two tones are often at odds with one another, highlighting all of the franchise’s best and worst instincts in one eclectic package. Chalk it up to a quarter-life crisis. | Read review |

EGM | Josh Harmon | 8 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village expands the pared-back, first-person gameplay of Resident Evil 7 into a more ambitious and over-the-top survival horror experience. Greater variety and more mechanical depth prove that there's a lot of potential left to explore in this new approach to the series, but some elements are a bit uneven, and you may find yourself missing the simplicity of the Baker ranch. | Read review |

Game Debate | Chad Norton | 9.5 / 10 | 05-16-2021 | Resident Evil Village may be the best Resident Evil of all time. It certainly is up there with the best of the series, but that heavily depends on your kind of RE game. If you enjoyed RE4 or RE7 then you'll probably like this one. And if you enjoyed both of them as much as each other then this very well could be one of the best. It certainly is for me. | Read review |
Game Informer | Ben Reeves | 9.3 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Village doesn't pull any punches when it comes to horror, but a consistent rollout of new weapons and tools makes it hard to walk away from these terrors | Read review |
Game Rant | Dalton Cooper | 4 / 5 stars | 05-06-2021 | Resident Evil Village doesn't have the most engrossing or satisfying story in Resident Evil history, and its more action-oriented approach is likely to disappoint fans that enjoyed RE7's pure horror. However, Resident Evil Village is packed with replay value, rarely has a dull moment, and should leave Resident Evil fans excited for the franchise's future. | Read review |
Game Revolution | Jason Faulkner | 4 / 5 stars | 05-05-2021 | I’ve been a fan of Resident Evil since I played the original RE2 when it was released in 1998. However, I’m not a purist. The increased emphasis on action isn’t Resident Evil Village’s issue. The problem is that it’s taken many elements and smooshed them together with little regard as to how they fit. If Capcom took a little more care with the game’s tone and its place in the series, it could have been a classic. As it is, RE Village is simply a good game with excellent production value. | Read review |
Gameblog | Romain Mahut | 8 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is both a beautiful and worthy successor to Resident Evil 7 biohazard. And it is more than just a sequel that rehashes ideas seen in the previous game. Capcom's game tries things that have never been seen before in the series and keeps things moving at the right pace with a few good twists along the way. It also must be said that Capcom's developers masterfully used both light and sound to put the player in Ethan's shoes. The only problem with the game is that it may be a bit too action-oriented near the end. That being said, Resident Evil Village is undoubtedly a great Resident Evil game. | Read review |
Gamefa | Mostafa Zahedi | 8.5 / 10 | 05-12-2021 | Resident Evil Village is without a doubt one of the Best Installment in the RE series. With a well-written story, enjoyable combat, impressive level design and great sense of mystery to the story, we can call RE Village an amazing combination of RE 7 and RE 4. It's more action oriented compared to RE 7 and horror elements have been decreased considerably. Although I think gunplay in RE Village is far from ideal and Boss fight Encounters needed more work, I still consider RE Village one of the best in the series that worths experience for sure. | Read review |
GameGrin | Luke Greenfield | 9 / 10 | 05-07-2021 | Resident Evil Village is an expertly-crafted narrative that seamlessly weaves subtle horror into action-driven sequences and backs it up with an excellent story supported by even better characters. GameMAG | Александр Логинов | 9 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a loud and bombastic game, paired with over the top story, great set of characters, and really impressive visuals. GameSkinny | Thomas Wilde | 8 / 10 | 05-17-2021 | Resident Evil Village has some of the biggest scares in the series to date, but it also has a peculiar feel to it, like a lot of story and gameplay was chopped out before launch. | Read review |
GameSpew | Richard Seagrave | 8 / 10 | 05-10-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a far cry from its more grounded and horror-focused predecessor, but in the end, it’s perhaps just as lovable. At times it feels like a greatest hits collection of some of the best elements of previous Resident Evil games, and while that leads to it not being wholly coherent, it’s not to its detriment. It may not be perfect in terms of combat mechanics and storytelling, but Resident Evil Village keeps you on your toes, with you never truly knowing what’s waiting for you around the next corner. And that’s why when playing it, the hours simply fly by. Will the series ever become stale? Not while it’s being as inventive as this, that’s for sure. | Read review |

Gaming Nexus | Charlie Coleman | 9.5 / 10 | 05-12-2021 | Resident Evil Village earns a spot right up there as one of the very best Resident Evil games in the franchise's 25 year run. Village is an amalgamation of what made Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 fan-favourite entries. Though it also delivers on it's own ambition with new breeds of terrifying enemies never seen before in Resident Evil. The Village is a desolate, decrepit, dolorous setting but undeniably beautiful thanks to some of the best art direction ever seen in the series. In an age of day one patches and bugs, Resident Evil looks and runs flawlessly on the PlayStation 5 version used in this review. Resident Evil Village is a Game of the Year contender. | Read review |

GamingTrend | Richard Allen | 90 / 100 | 05-10-2021 | Having multiple Lords to hunt and take down, each with their own unique territory and play style, greatly helps Village stand out from previous entries. Bringing back a merchant, giving hunting and fishing options, an upgraded inventory system, allowing the story to go absolutely off the rails, and switching the gameplay to be more action focused, even though I understand that may upset some players, all combined to help Village stand out from previous entries while still feeling unique. Upon completion I immediately spent my CP and hopped back into the campaign, the greatest compliment I can give any game. Village may very well be my new favorite entry in the series. | Read review |

Luis Alamilla | Luis Alamilla | 8.5 / 10 | 05-11-2021 | Resident Evil Village does a great job at crafting an audio landscape that always puts the ambient sound design forward. Every door has a creek to it that varies depending on the type of material it was made of. I could hear Ethan's heavy breath as he walked through the winter snow. While this particular entry in the series didn't have a horror atmosphere all the time, it did at least put an effort to create a believable soundscape that really put me in the headspace of just trying to survive. Playing on a PS5, I do wish this game took a bit more advantage out of the dual sense. There's subtle vibration but nothing that really feels all that different from playing on PS4. Having seen how this could be used in a shooter like Returnal, I would have loved to see it used to heighten the suspense in a horror setting. At least the music does a decent job at helping alleviate that. While the music isn't always present, when it does pop its head out, it does a great job of setting the tone for what's to come. | Read review |

Metro GameCentral | GameCentral | 7 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | A competent but uninspired sequel that's unwise to create so many obvious comparisons to Resident Evil 4, although it still manages to find some memorable moments of its own. | Read review |
MMORPG.com | Garrick D. Raley | 8.3 / 10 | 05-07-2021 | By itself, Resident Evil Village is a fantastic addition to the survival-horror genre and focuses more on empowering the player rather than cheap horror elements. As part of the series, Village lacks in the story department and seems like it tries to cast too wide of a net to appeal to a greater audience rather than catering to the hardcore fans. Diehard ResE fans might be disappointed at the lack of lore in Village, but casual fans won’t feel like they need to have played every prior entry in order to have a good time. Ultimately, I’d recommend Resident Evil Village to anyone that loved Resident Evil 4 or who felt like Resident Evil 7 was too horror-focused. | Read review |
MonsterVine | Spencer Legacy | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-10-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a terrific horror game that balances some impressively frightening scenarios with intense action. | Read review |
New Game Network | Josh Hinke | 67 / 100 | 05-20-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a decent entry into a franchise that continues to wildly swing back and forth, stumbling into success and failure, unsure of what it even wants to be. | Read review |
Niche Gamer | Necro XIII | 9 / 10 | 05-11-2021 | Some small questionable story choices, compressed sounds, and PC stability keep Resident Evil Village from being a masterpiece, but not far from it. It’s definitely a must-play game that can kickstart your love for the franchise if this is your first step into the series. If you are a returning fan, it’s definitely not Umbrella Corps! | Read review |
Noisy Pixel | Azario Lopez | 9 / 10 | 05-06-2021 | Resident Evil Village is like a reunion of all the previous games in the series. It takes what worked and gives it to fans in small bites across this horrifying adventure. Tension is created in multiple ways that force you to adjust on the fly, but as scary as it, the thought that answers to all your questions lie beyond the next door will keep you going. Resident Evil Village isn’t having an identity crisis. It’s fully aware of what it’s doing. Somehow, the blending of these systems produces the most entertaining nightmare you’ve ever had. | Read review |

Oyungezer Online | Unknown | 8.5 / 10 | 05-15-2021 | Resident Evil Village is one of the most impressive games in the series, but it's also a harbinger of better games with what it's brought to the series. | Read review |

Paste Magazine | Austin Jones | 7.5 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | undefined. For all the game's problems, though, it provides some truly excellent moments that I'll remember for a long time. I shouldn't be shocked that a major AAA game like Village would fall into AAA traps, but there's something special about Village that felt like it could escape the franchise's own sordid past and deliver something as revolutionary-if not more-than RE7. But, like all things camp, maybe we'll reevaluate the game's banality in a decade or two; Village might be a cult oddity in good time. | Read review |
PC Gamer | Andy Kelly | 85 / 100 | 05-05-2021 | A grimly beautiful collection of killer horror set-pieces, with some of the most memorably grotesque enemies in Resi history. | Read review |
PC Invasion | Andrew Farrell | 8.5 / 10 | 05-06-2021 | It jumps between gameplay styles more than I expected and doesn't scratch the same itch as its predecessor, but this is a damn good game that every fan of the series needs to play. | Read review |
PCGamesN | Dustin Bailey | 8 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village pulls the best bits from the series' past and recombines them into something fresh and surprising. It can't maintain that momentum for its entire run, but Village's heights are among the best in Resident Evil's illustrious history. | Read review |
PCMag | Mike Williams | 4 / 5 stars | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village blends Resident Evil 7's grounded horror with Resident Evil 4's fast action and offbeat concepts. More tension, more combat, and more weirdness round out a game whose faults lie on the edges of the overall experience. | Read review |
PlayStation LifeStyle | Chandler Wood | 8 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a good game with a lot of opportunity to have been a great game. And yet, for as many criticisms as I have, it was an experience that I was happy to play through a second time immediately after finishing the first. The new setting, creatures, villains, and story are engaging additions to the Resident Evil canon, even if the gameplay doesn’t seem to have evolved all that much and the scares have been pulled back. It’s still a fun romp in a new setting with new monsters; a great and fitting piece of the broader series that makes me excited to see where it’s all headed next. | Read review |
PlayStation Universe | Michael Harradence | 9 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village combines the best of the past 25 years of the franchise, bringing a compelling adventure that should appeal to action and horror fans alike. With massive locations offering a wealth of exploration and hidden goodies, a meaty campaign with some decent unlockables, Village is the franchise at the top of its game. | Read review |

PowerUp! | Leo Stevenson | 8.6 / 10 | 05-06-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a modern-day horror classic. While it doesn’t quite reach the heights set by Resident Evil 4 or, the best-in-the-series, Resident Evil 2, Village is a game worthy of the Resident Evil moniker | Read review |
Press Start | James Mitchell | 9 / 10 | 05-06-2021 | While Resident Evil Village channels the best bits of several Resident Evil games, it stands on its own to be something never done before in the franchise. A macabre potpourri of European, gothic inspired styles of tension and horror, Resident Evil Village is a worthy follow-up to Resident Evil 7: biohazard and one that any self-respecting horror fan shouldn't miss. | Read review |
pressakey.com | Kevin Henschen | Recommended | 07-07-2021 | The wild mix from the previous games and the more action-packed approach make for a high replay value, which is why the game can be recommended almost without reservation. | Read review |
PSX Brasil | Ivan Nikolai Barkow Castilho | 95 / 100 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is just incredible. It is a mixture of what was established with Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 biohazard, but it manages to have its own identity and offers a unique experience. The gameplay is fun, challenging and features smart puzzles. Fear, as well as tension, are also present in much of the journey. The only flaws are the Mercenaries mode and the story that may not appeal to everyone. | Read review |
Push Square | Liam Croft | 9 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | While the Resident Evil series has been on a high for a number of years now, Resident Evil Village sets an entirely new standard. Its cast of villains is up there with the very best, memorable sequences and gameplay sections beg to be played over and over again, and a sense of constant dread created by the atmosphere and soundtrack keeps you on the edge of your seat. Even the combat is solid this time around and the lengths Capcom has gone to take advantage of the PS5 pays off with impressive Ray-Tracing. Does it better Resident Evil 4? Maybe not, but it's damn close. Real damn close. Resident Evil Village is an essential playthrough for anyone with even a passing interest in the franchise. | Read review |

Slant Magazine | Justin Clark | 4 / 5 stars | 05-15-2021 | Village is marked by a maturity that’s new to Resident Evil. Even when it steers us toward the traditional climax set inside a laboratory, the route feels more intimate and thoughtful than it ever has in a Resident Evil game. What elements Capcom doesn’t bring into Village from its predecessor, they’ve carefully replaced with a striking sense of emotional logic. Resident Evil, as a series, reinvented itself in Biohazard, and with Village it continues to grow up. | Read review |

The Games Machine | Daniele Cucchiarelli | 8.8 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Village is an intense Resident Evil experience, with a great cast of heroes and villains. The Outerhaven Productions | Karl Smart | 4 / 5 stars | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a great entry into the otherwise weird third trilogy of the Resident Evil franchise. VG247 | Alex Donaldson | Recommended | 05-05-2021 | Taken alone, any one slice of the game – like a single house, the village itself, even the way combat handles – has its issues. But combined, it merges into something that’s still special – even if it isn’t quite as brilliant as Resident Evil 7 or 2 Remake. It’s an easy recommendation – though if you didn’t back in 2017, you might want to play RE7 first. | Read review |

Video Chums | Trey Griffeth | 9 / 10 | 05-09-2021 | In the end, Resident Evil Village is not a perfect experience but it is still an awesome one and easily the best of the recent games in the series. Video Games Chronicle | Jon Bailes | 4 / 5 stars | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil: Village is a powerful monster, bolting together parts from Resident Evils 7, 4 and more besides. It’s longer than recent games in the series, yet still feels trim and sculpted as it shifts between it wide range of locations and set pieces. The downside of its eclectic approach is some unevenness and less tension, especially in a relatively weak opening act. But its eventual blend of parts is gloriously big, daft and fuelled by the finest of nightmares. | Read review |

Whilst it may seem like a successor to RE4, there’s a lot of the other games in here as well, making it one of the most complete Resident Evil experiences to date. | Read review |
Wccftech | Nathan Birch | 9 / 10 | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is a wild, thrilling ride across seemingly every horror genre and idea that happened to pass through the mad minds at Capcom. Not every aspect of the game is perfect, but its highs are very high and solid core mechanics and excellent presentation hold the grisly patchwork together. You may survive Resident Evil Village, but your thoughts will linger there long after you've escaped. | Read review |
We Got This Covered | David Morgan | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is at once terrifying, exhilarating, hilarious, and beautiful. Its crowning achievement is that it’s a horror game that’s not only perfectly paced, but it also has an explosive third act and ends on its highest note. It isn’t enough to dethrone Resident Evil 4 as an action title, but it’s a marked improvement over 7’s solid foundation. | Read review |

Windows Central | Jez Corden | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-05-2021 | Resident Evil Village is one of the first games that feels truly "next-gen," with absolutely stunning tech bolstered by the industry-leading RE Engine. Stunning visuals, truly bizarre creatures, a memorable parade of eccentric characters, and truly satisfying gameplay make Resident Evil Village soar, even if a few quirks in the plot delivery deflate the spectacle. Resident Evil Village is a truly excellent game and one of the best entries in the legendary franchise. Long may it continue. | Read review |
Worth Playing | Chris "Atom" DeAngelus | 8.5 / 10 | 05-10-2021 | Overall, Resident Evil: Village is a solid entry into the franchise. It isn't quite up to the sheer excellence of Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 4, but it has a lot of genuinely fun moments and solid gameplay. The only thing that might hold it back is that it returns to the ridiculousness that Resident Evil loves to embrace, and that might disappoint fans who were hoping for something more grounded. If you're a Resident Evil fan who has stuck with the series through Alfred Ashford and Jake Muller, then you'll probably feel right at home with Village. | Read review |

Zoomg | Afshin Piroozi | 8.5 / 10 | 05-11-2021 | A good balanced offering of engaging actions and quieter minutes focused on solving puzzles, as well as the first-class atmosphere, which is the result of an ideal combination of beautiful graphics and sound effects, transforms Resident Evil Village into the game that is recommended to experience. | Read review |
ZTGD | Ken McKown | 9 / 10 | 05-13-2021 | Resident Evil Village is another outstanding entry in one of the best franchises in gaming. Capcom has done a wonderful job of keeping the series fresh and interesting since its inception back in 1996. I still get excited when a new game in the series drops. It is an event that few other franchises can carry for this long. This game is one of the easiest to recommend and it is on a short list of my favorite game experiences of the year. I expect to be discussing it when the end of 2021 rolls around. | Read review |
