Paul Tassi (Forbes)
10/10
“It has been a very long time since I’ve felt this much passion for a game. Overwatch is a perfect storm. It’s a new IP, looks gorgeous, plays phenomenally and singlehandedly rekindled my desire to play a genre of game I thought I’d left behind at this point.”
Chris Carter (Destructoid)
10/10
“Truly, I believe that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Overwatch in the years to come. Blizzard has a great track record when it comes to long-term support, and given how good it is out of the gate, it can only get better from here. Blizzard has truly snatched victory from the draws of defeat.”
Dan Murphy (God is a Geek)
9.5/10
“An incredible game and should be enjoyed by everyone, and the most fun I’ve had with a shooter in years. Brimming with personality, the only concerns are longevity, and how dependent it is on other players to make the game fun.”

Arcade Sushi | Alex Langley | 9.5 / 10 | 05-26-2016 | In a genre full of dour shootymans using realistic guns to shoot at realistic people, Overwatch polishes off the grit to reveal a game that's optimistic and eager to be explored. | Read review |
Attack of the Fanboy | Scott Grill | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-25-2016 | Overwatch has been polished to a high sheen by Blizzard. There are a handful of nits to pick, but everything comes together in an extraordinary fashion when it could have just as easily been a mess of half-baked ideas. | Read review |
AusGamers | Kosta Andreadis | 10 / 10 | 06-06-2016 | A stellar online experience that feels familiar yet still entirely new. It takes something that people have enjoyed for a number of years, appeals to fans of the online shooter genre whilst also adding a layer of inclusiveness to makes it fun for casual players too. And for a Blizzard release, what else could you ask for. | Read review |
BaziCenter | امیرحسین پرورش | 9 / 10 | 06-27-2016 | Rich cast of characters, expertly designed maps, very deep and yet smooth FPS gameplay, strong and steady servers, That's waht happens when Blizzard makes a shooter. | Read review |
| Read review |
CGMagazine | Jed Whitaker | 8 / 10 | 05-24-2016 | A decent hero-based shooter that is light on content and heavy on grinding for cosmetics, unless of course you'd like to buy some micro-transactions. | Read review |
Cheat Code Central | Matthew Hayes | 4.8 / 5 stars | 06-07-2016 | And that's what brings me here: sitting on the edge of my seat, back erect and eyes wide as my match in Dorado comes to an explosive, victorious end. I look with glee and see that Junkrat and I secured the play of the game, and I can't help but feel smug as the entire lobby watches the moment I turned the game around with my ultimate. I watch again as Junkrat heaves back the ripcord to a remote controlled tire filled with explosives. I drove it straight up and over a wall, launched it into the air, landed in the middle of the heavily-defended objective, and exploded to take out 4 defenders who were just about to secure it for themselves. I feel like I'm being lifted on top of virtual shoulders as my teammates upvote my performance during the post-game results. I clench my teeth as the experience bar shoots forward, stopping just shy of the next level and a new loot box. Foolishly I glance sidelong at my phone and notice it's 2:40 AM. "Just one more match." | Read review |
COGconnected | Steven Ritz | 98 / 100 | 05-27-2016 | We've had arena shooters with this formula for ages, so why is Overwatch deserving of so much praise? Because Blizzard decided that every last detail in this game is deliberate and calculated for the best possible experience. | Read review |
ComiConverse | Alan Stock | 5 / 5 stars | 09-26-2016 | Overwatch’s unique style and excellent gameplay is a refreshing take on the team FPS with a positive attitude and a fantastic multiplayer experience. For me, the new king of multiplayer FPS. | Read review |
Critical Hit | Matthew Figueira | 9 / 10 | 05-27-2016 | Blizzard have set a new example for the FPS genre that others will need to follow. Overwatch reaches near perfection with its polish and charm. It's fun, addictive, and will keep players hooked for a good, long time. | Read review |
Cubed3 | Ian Soltes | 8 / 10 | 06-03-2016 | Overwatch has all the glitz and polish expected of a Blizzard game, with all the usual underlying quality. It is highly unlikely that this game will go under or stop being supported, as well. However, its volume of content is a bit questionable for a game that costs $40 to even play. With that said, every other aspect shines, and is helped heavily by its unique MOBA-esque character system and the ability to switch in the middle of a map. It has been said that new champions and the like will be free, and if that's true, Overwatch will only climb uphill. | Read review |
Daily Dot | Dennis Scimeca | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-27-2016 | If you are a first-person shooter fan generally, and if you enjoy team-based FPS play specifically, not at least trying Overwatch feels criminal. Digitally Downloaded | Matt Sainsbury | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-30-2016 | Overwatch is not typically my kind of game. Not by any measure. But the fact that I've been having so much fun with it that I've been playing it over some other games that I worship (but can't quite mention yet) is testament to just how well Blizzard has done with this one. Bravo guys – someone has finally created a shooter I care about enough to actually want to play after finishing the review. | Read review |
DualShockers | Lou Contaldi | 9.5 / 10 | 05-27-2016 | As it is right now, Overwatch remains an achievement in multiplayer-only games, offering a dynamic, new playstyle with both interesting characters and an interesting world. While it may lack some slight components, there are more than enough Heroes and maps to make the game worthwhile, whether you're a casual player jumping in for the first time, or a veteran shooter player needing a new experience. More importantly, the gameplay is always fluid and fun — it is hard to find another game in this (or any genre) that is consistently this enjoyable. Overwatch is a master class in the class-based shooting genre and gaming itself. | Read review |

Everyeye.it | Tommaso Montagnoli | 8.5 / 10 | 05-25-2016 | Overwatch is the new dimension of competitive play. A step forward in the genre, an hypertrophic heir to Team Fortress: each of the 21 heroes represent a class, and the concept of asymmetrical balancing is just brilliant. On the other side, the game is not that fun if you play it alone, and the absence of ranked match is unacceptable. | Read review |

Game Rant | Denny Connolly | 4 / 5 stars | 05-31-2016 | Despite only a handful of maps, no story, and no ranking system upon release, Overwatch more than makes up for all of that with its masterful focus on teamwork. The game is clearly designed with teamwork at its heart, which is a major strength, but can also lead to frustrations for any lone wolf gamers. | Read review |
Game Revolution | Jonathan Leack | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-25-2016 | Blizzard has always excelled at delivering enjoyable games with beautiful presentations, and Overwatch shows that it can extend this talent to genres that it's never visited before. This might be its first shooter, but it's rich with beautiful art and has a remarkable fun factor that you would expect from only the most elite shooter-oriented developers. It's recommendable to just about anyone even if it falters when it comes to solo play. It won't be difficult to invite your friends to come join you, after all. | Read review |
GameCrate | Nicholas Scibetta | 8.5 / 10 | 05-25-2016 | Overwatch could very well come to dominate the hero shooter genre. There's plenty of room for improvement around the edges, but the core is strong enough to make this another huge hit for Blizzard. | Read review |
GameGrin | Alex Hamilton | 9.5 / 10 | 12-06-2016 | Overwatch is a punch to the face for multiplayer shooters. Gameplanet | Baz Macdonald | 9 / 10 | 05-26-2016 | We'll never know what Titan was like, but thanks to Overwatch we won't care. A first-rate team-based FPS, it has seen Blizzard rise to the top of yet another genre. | Read review |
GamesBeat | Mike Minotti | 98 / 100 | 05-31-2016 | Overwatch is a game that I know I'm going to be playing for a long time. GamesRadar+ | Lucas Sullivan | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-23-2016 | There's certainly room for improvement, but Overwatch is already a superb team-based shooter full of memorable multiplayer moments. | Read review |
GameWatcher | Dustin Bailey | 9.5 / 10 | 05-30-2016 | Overwatch is a fantastic game from top to bottom. GameZone | Daniel R. Miller | 9 / 10 | 06-07-2016 | You're going to be hearing a lot about Overwatch for a long time to come, not just because the game is stellar, but because of Blizzard's incredibly long track record of supporting their games post launch. You don't need to wait for a sale, the game's full price carries a ton of value both looking at today and with what lies ahead for the game. If you aren't already playing Overwatch, you are missing out. | Read review |

GamingTrend | Eric Van Allen | 95 / 100 | 05-27-2016 | A sublime execution on nearly every front, Overwatch turns a world in need of heroes into one of the best arena shooters since their heyday, and stands alongside Blizzard's finest as some of the most necessary playing in its respective genre. | Read review |
Geeks Under Grace | Maurice Pogue | 9.8 / 10 | 06-20-2016 | Blizzard continues its streak as a top-tier developer with its first new intellectual property in almost twenty years. Generación Xbox | Osmar Martínez | 9 / 10 | 06-04-2016 | The game offers tones of hours of an incredible, dynamic and addictive multiplayer. It's extraordinarily entertaining, but the reality is that there is not a great variety of game modes at the moment. | Read review |

IBTimes UK | Jake Tucker | 4.5 / 5 stars | 05-31-2016 | Overwatch is a great package: fun, accessible and extremely well-made. It's a shooter as much for those pledge their lives to online play, as those chiefly interested in the occasional fun foray. It's an instant classic that, with the kind of good post-launch support Blizzard is known for, could prove the go-to shooter for an entire generation of gamers. | Read review |

IGN Middle East | Nick Rego | 9 / 10 | 05-28-2016 | At $40 Overwatch is easy to grab and dive into, with Blizzard promising the first content update coming for free in June, which will introduce Competitive Play. We’re hoping for more heroes and maps to be added in over time, but as it stands Overwatch is a ton of fun to play and explore, and is only going to get better over time. | Read review |
Impulsegamer | James Wright (Impulsegamer) | 4.75 / 5 stars | 05-29-2016 | At times Overwatch does feel like an old school multiplayer shooter but Blizzard has a knack of taking something classic and making it better. MMOGames | Mary Sylver | 9 / 10 | 06-17-2016 | As was to be expected from a Blizzard title that had much to prove, Overwatch excels in presentation with its overall production value, hero and map design. The beautiful, sharp and colorful graphics are accompanied by a heroic soundtrack composed by Derek Duke, Neal Acree, Sam Cardon and Cris Velasco. This is one great looking shooter with hot cosmetics and some fun hero dialogues added in the mix while keeping things real on the side of system requirements! | Read review |
MMORPG.com | Michael Bitton | 9 / 10 | 06-17-2016 | Blizzard's first foray into the first person shooter genre was a bold move for the studio best known for its strategy titles and its MMO, World of Warcraft. Blizzard is first to market with Overwatch, its entry into the nascent, but rapidly growing hero shooter and unfortunately for everyone else, Blizzard's managed to hit the ball out of the park on its first swing. | Read review |
New Game Network | Tim Reid | 81 / 100 | 08-15-2016 | Overwatch is an addictive and well designed team-based multiplayer game with a bright future featuring a remarkably diverse set of classes, though competitive mode currently undermines the light-hearted nature of the game. | Read review |
Next Gen Base | Damien O’Neill | 10 / 10 | 05-21-2016 | Overwatch is Blizzard Entertainment's newest addition to their rather eclectic game library; a class based, multiplayer, first-person shooter – which seemed strange to me at first because Blizzard has pumped out more games of the role-playing variety than you'll find in my late-night internet search history. The game was announced at Blizzcon towards the end of November 2014 and Blizzard held two x 36 hour closed beta weekend sessions for fans prior to the games release. The latter of the sessions amassed over 9.7 million users… and seriously, 9.7 million users cannot be wrong, can they? | Read review |
Nintendo Wire | Jaxson Tapp | 8 / 10 | 10-16-2019 | If your Switch is the only gaming platform you have and you’re interested in playing Overwatch, you shouldn’t feel any hesitation jumping into it. If you’ve played on other platforms and want a portable option and/or really want to try playing with gyro-controls, there’s a bit of a tradeoff due to graphical downgrades, but to me, the Switch version feels worth it in the end. | Read review |

Press Start | James Berich | 9 / 10 | 05-30-2016 | Overwatch is, without a doubt, a triumph in almost every aspect. It manages to bring a bright and colourful aesthetic to a genre that has previously been reluctant to do so. | Read review |
pressakey.com | Philipp Weinbrecht | Recommended | 06-06-2016 | Overwatch is everything I wished for since good ol' Quake & Enemy Territory: a fast-paced, straight forward team shooter with a great, quick gunplay and some objective-based team-action. Every hero has its purpose and should serve every skill-level ranging from shooter veterans to beginners. Thanks to free new heroes, maps, events and game modes, Blizzard also makes sure to keep long time players entertained and excited. | Read review |
PS4Blog.net | the_nmac | 9.5 / 10 | 03-04-2018 | Go and play Overwatch! It's a great game that does something really different with the genre creating a really cool unique experience that somehow feels different everytime you play. | Read review |
Push Square | Alex Stinton | 9 / 10 | 05-30-2016 | Blizzard has never been a genre trailblazer when it comes to the games that it develops, but when it does arrive fashionably late on the scene, you can be fairly certain that it's going to deliver something special. With Overwatch, the studio has delivered once again, splicing the heroes of a MOBA straight into a team-based shooter, and while the asking price may feel a little steep at first, it's the selection of characters – that are easy to learn, but difficult to master – as well as its positive recognition system that'll undoubtedly win you over. | Read review |
Rock, Paper, Shotgun | Steven Messner | Recommended | 05-27-2016 | Overwatch is like going for an evening of speed dating and realizing everyone you meet is marriage material. Rocket Chainsaw | Tim Norman | 5 / 5 stars | 05-29-2016 | Blizzard don't make bad games, and Overwatch is one of their finest titles. Shacknews | Steve Watts | 9 / 10 | 05-27-2016 | Overwatch is a collection of firsts, but it carries itself with the confidence and proficiency of a veteran. You can't ask for much more than that. | Read review |
Sirus Gaming | Jan Lemuel Goyeneche | 10 / 10 | 05-27-2016 | But even with the admittedly enjoyable boss fights, all the letdowns of Mutants in Manhattan gave me an impression that this was just another rushed game. The mechanics were simple to understand; but it surely lacked the local co-op mode, and missing the satisfying achievement that each hack n' slash / beat 'em up game should always have. | Read review |

The Jimquisition | Jim Sterling | 9 / 10 | 05-25-2016 | A silly, cartoony, extraordinary multiplayer shooter that doesn't want to be more or less than that. | Read review |
The Outerhaven Productions | Adriel Rangel | 4.5 / 5 stars | 06-03-2016 | Overwatch is the spiritual successor to TF2 in many ways, and if you haven't heard it said before, it's worth a look if you come from there. Even for total newcomers, though; the world, the characters, and the sheer chaos of skills, ultimates, and counter picks makes this game not worth missing. | Read review |
TheSixthAxis | Jim Hargreaves | 9 / 10 | 05-27-2016 | For multiplayer aficionados, Overwatch is essential. It's the kind of game worth sacrificing entire evenings to play and the kind of game you won't be able to stop thinking about, even when you're away. Although the lack of a singleplayer component will deter some, there's more than enough mileage to be had from twelve maps and 21 heroes available. | Read review |
ThisGenGaming | Charlie Oakley | 9 / 10 | 05-24-2016 | Overwatch is unlike anything else on the Xbox One and PS4. Yes, Battleborn exists and I've enjoyed that game for what it is and even reviewed it positively (you can read that here) But it'd be incredulous to not admit that Overwatch just brings something 'special' to the genre that makes it stand out from other shooters of a similar nature. Personally, I'd even go as far as calling it the most enjoyable multiplayer shooter on console to date. That's not to say that other multiplayer shooters have been bad; they certainly haven't but the Pixar-grade visuals mixed with everything else that makes Overwatch so great just puts it above the fray compared to other shooters. If you're looking to get some genuine fun out of a multiplayer game then you can't go wrong with Overwatch. | Read review |
Twinfinite | Ed McGlone | 5 / 5 stars | 05-24-2016 | It's wacky, pretty, incredibly fun, and should be supported well by Blizzard for years to come. At launch, there's already so many things going so right, and Blizzard will only add to it. | Read review |
USgamer | Kat Bailey | 5 / 5 stars | 05-24-2016 | Overwatch may yet cool off and fall by the wayside at some point in the near future, but it sure seems like it's here for the long haul. Pretty much everything about this game feels fresh and exciting: the class-based combat, the art style, the roster, the modes. It's equal parts strategic and twitchy, encouraging you to think while also rewarding skill, and its roster is a delight. Overwatch may well be the best new multiplayer shooter to come along since Modern Warfare and Team Fortress 2 took 2007 by storm. I can't wait to play more. | Read review |
