Kirby thankfully remains as charming as ever and this new adventure can effortlessly provide hours of glee.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the biggest and most inventive entry in the long-running franchise.
Kirby’s latest adventure is an absolute treat and one you won’t want to miss. With more open platforming in an eye-grabbing 3D world, a generous helping of fantastic features in Waddle Dee Town, and the introduction of Mouthful Mode, Kirby and the Forgotten Land offers up a memorable experience that will undoubtedly make you smile.

Areajugones | Nazaret López | 9 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and The Forgotten Land more than meets my expectations by offering innovation and fun throughout the adventure. Its environment open to exploration together with its mini-games, puzzles and cooperative mode, extend the experience in a satisfactory way. This ambitious installment from Nintendo and HAL Laboratory will please both diehard fans of the saga, as well as new to it. | Read review |
Ars Technica | Kyle Orland | Recommended | 03-23-2022 | Try it if you're looking for a break from the punishing difficulty you might be finding in other games these days. | Read review |
Atomix | Alberto Desfassiaux | 91 / 100 | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a dream to all Kirby fans. Easily, the best game of the series and a perfect way to celebrate the 30th anniversary. Going for a full 3D game, was the right choice. | Read review |
Attack of the Fanboy | Marc Magrini | 4.5 / 5 stars | 03-27-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is fun, relaxing, and challenging all at once. Kirby's first major leap into 3D is an incredible success, with new mechanics and altered gameplay providing a familiar-yet-unique experience for any fan of the series. Forgotten Land provides incredible foundations for the future of 3D Kirby games, and one can only hope that HAL will continue to build upon them. | Read review |
AusGamers | Steve Farrelly | 6.5 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | It’s too easy. And it’s not like dialling up the AI or bolstering their numbers would help, it’s just been designed as an ultra-accessible game. And that’s fine. But for mine it’s detrimental to some of the clever ideas that do rear their head throughout, though these are more often flash-in-the-pan in terms of cadence and delivery | Read review |
But Why Tho? | Jason Flatt | 7.5 / 10 | 03-28-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s simplicity is its greatest asset as well as its greatest weakness. It makes it a fun and simple platformer filled with great copy abilities and a drive to work towards upgrading them all into cooler and more deadly versions. But it won’t likely have the staying power of some of the franchise’s earlier entries either. It’s a AAA Switch game though made by Nintendo, so surely it’s fun and will have its fans nonetheless. | Read review |
Cerealkillerz | Manuel Barthes | 8.6 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | With Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Nintendo is giving one of its most iconic heroes finally a 3D adventure. This convinces visually and playfully along the entire length and knows how to motivate with numerous secrets. It doesn't quite measure up to the likes of Super Mario and Link, but Kirby definitely doesn't have to hide from them anymore. In summary, a successful comeback that knows how to entertain young and old alike. | Read review |
CGMagazine | Jordan Biordi | 7.5 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | While a mostly fun experience, Kirby and the Forgotten Land definitely forgets a lot of the things that make the pink puffball’s games so unique. | Read review |
Checkpoint Gaming | Charlie Kelly | 8.5 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Enter Kirby and the Forgotten Lands with reasonable expectations and you’ll soon see one of the best refinements of a long-standing Nintendo formula yet. Cooperative play may waver in quality but does not diminish the wondrous experience ahead of you. On offer is plenty of platforming fun to sink your teeth into. Exploration, combat and the completionist itch that comes with a Kirby title are all present and strong here, and it also serves to be one of the longer adventures yet, with more to do than ever before. If you’re looking for the bright and joyous game to cosy up with on the couch this year, Kirby and the Forgotten Lands is without a doubt the one. Just maybe keep a suspicious eye on that beast pack. | Read review |
COGconnected | James Paley | 80 / 100 | 03-23-2022 | Given the open world craze sweeping the industry, I expected something along those lines with Forgotten Land. Instead, I got a charming new adventure taking measured steps outside the franchise’s usual boundaries. This game proves you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, so long as you’re adding some sweet rims. While the new mechanics are cool, I also appreciate the way old systems have been refreshed. And while the challenge level felt toothless at first, things managed to heat up in the end. In fact, the game is as tough as you need it to be, from start to finish. If you’ve been looking for something fresh from Kirby, you’re in luck. Kirby and the Forgotten Land has some delightful surprises in store. | Read review |
Daily Mirror | Eugene Sowah | 5 / 5 stars | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is another great platforming epic from Nintendo that will constantly challenge the player. There’s a good balance between combat and platforming that keeps the game fresh and compelling throughout. There are tons of secrets and replay value that will keep players coming back for a long time. | Read review |
Daily Star | Tom Hutchison | 4.5 / 5 stars | 03-23-2022 | All in, a cracking Switch title. One that doesn’t feel particularly fresh in any area but is done with enough Nintendo charm and style that it’s still a pleasure to play. | Read review |

EGM | Michael Goroff | 8 / 10 | 04-04-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land does pretty much everything it needs to as the pink puffball's first 3D adventure. Clever level design and the appropriately named Mouthful Mode show that Kirby's floating, sucking ways can work in a 3D space. Forgotten Land might not reach the highest heights of Nintendo's other first-party adventures, but it definitely shows that Kirby can hold his own in a three-dimensional arena. | Read review |

Game Revolution | Paul Tamburro | 4.25 / 5 stars | 03-30-2022 | Truth be told, Kirby has lacked an essential game throughout his entire history, despite being one of the most recognizable video game mascots around. While Kirby and the Forgotten Lands may not quite be up there with the greats of the genre, it’s an incredibly pleasant experience with a great degree of thoughtfulness put into it, from the charming touches littered throughout its overgrown and unkempt world, through to its unabashed emphasis on fun as best evidenced in its hub world. This is a great Switch exclusive for players of all skill levels. | Read review |

Hey Poor Player | Josh Speer | 4.5 / 5 stars | 03-31-2022 | Overall, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is still a tremendous adventure. It makes the transition from 2D to 3D effortlessly, and offers an expansive adventure full of replay value. While I was frustrated by some curious omissions, this is still one of the best Kirby games in quite a while and easily the best one yet on Nintendo Switch. A must-own for fans of the pink puffball. | Read review |

IGN Spain | David Oña | 8 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a very successful translation of the spirit of the series to three-dimensional environments. A relaxed experience that shifts away from tension to focus on rhythm, and that climbs nicely to reach the epic level to which we are accustomed in the franchise's titles. Beautiful worlds, a soundtrack that makes it almost impossible to stand still, and many ideas to make surprise a constant. A remarkable videogame that will undoubtedly serve as a basis for the future of the franchise. | Read review |

Metro GameCentral | GameCentral | 7 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | One of the best Kirby games ever made and while the formula hasn't changed as much as it first seems it's also one of the most enjoyable co-op titles of recent years. | Read review |
MonsterVine | Spencer Legacy | 4.5 / 5 stars | 04-04-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is an excellent first foray into the third dimension for Kirby and his Pop-Star pals. Nintendo Life | PJ O'Reilly | 9 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a great big colourful joyride of an adventure for our little pink pal. This first fully three dimensional mainline entry in the franchise is bursting at the seams with fun and inventiveness, managing to transpose everything we know and love about past Kirby games to this all-new arena whilst adding plenty of delightful new aspects as it goes. Mouthful Mode is just as daftly entertaining as it looked in the trailers, each and every level is packed full of secrets and dripping in wonderful detail, and there are enough side activities, collectibles and co-op fun here to keep you entertained and coming back for more for a good long while. What a grand way to celebrate 30 years of Planet Popstar's finest. | Read review |
NoobFeed | Adam Siddiqui | 90 / 100 | 03-30-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land delivers the same charm and wonder that the franchise is known for but in a refreshing way with realistic things such as cars and soda machines. Paste Magazine | Marc Normandin | 9 / 10 | 04-04-2022 | It manages to straddle the line between valuing and carefully adapting the Kirby that was, while completely revamping what you thought Kirby could even be. Reno Gazette-Journal | Jason Hidalgo | 9 / 10 | 04-06-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land shakes up the traditional Kirby formula by fully bringing it into the third dimension while adding some fun new mechanics into the mix. Despite the switch to 3D — pun so totally intended — it still feels like a Kirby game for longtime fans. The length is a bit short and the game could also be more challenging. Those are minor gripes, however, as the game adds some much-needed freshness to the franchise while maintaining the charm that Kirby fans know and love. | Read review |

Slant Magazine | Aaron Riccio | 3.5 / 5 stars | 03-31-2022 | The Forgotten Land may not nail the world-building or plotting, but it’s not snoozing when it comes to Kirby’s transformations. In fact, the new optional Treasure Road activities highlight his absorptive arsenal better than in any previous game. These short stages help players learn how to maximize the various functions of each copy ability, whether that’s for light environmental puzzles—such as the Drill ability to burrow under barriers—or to do battle armed with chakrams, axes, flames, and more. Between the Road and the relatively lengthy main quest—six zones with five stages each and a post-game area that remixes harder versions of earlier levels—The Forgotten Land really gives Kirby’s powers a workout. | Read review |

The Games Machine | Danilo Dellafrana | 8.3 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a very good game, hampered by a disappointingly easy gameplay and a short longevity for those not interested in its secrets. The Outerhaven Productions | Kyle Simcox | 4 / 5 stars | 04-03-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a triumph and a new direction for Kirby games as a whole. While not everything they throw in works, this is a game you'll enjoy playing, and then trying to get 100% completion on. | Read review |
TheSixthAxis | Stefan L | 9 / 10 | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land makes Kirby's jump to 3D feel effortless, but it's much more than that, with the vibrantly styled decaying world to explore and the Mouthful Modes that will have you laughing with each new one that's discovered. | Read review |

VG247 | Tom Orry | Recommended | 03-23-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a little safe at points to make it a proper all-timer, but I’m not sure that was ever the intention. It’s a game that is easy to like, can be played by everyone, and sits nicely alongside other Switch exclusives from Nintendo. If Kirby becoming a car is everything you want in life, good for you and welcome to your new favorite game of all time. For me, Kirby remains just below A-tier, which is still a great place to be. It’s often where some of the tastiest snacks are. | Read review |

Washington Post | Alyse Stanley | Recommended | 03-23-2022 | The predictable formula of Kirby games accounts for part of their appeal. Think of it as comfort food. Case in point: My first Kirby game was 2000’s “Kirby and the Crystal Shards” for the Nintendo 64. Now, 22 years later, I’m fighting the same enemies with many of the same abilities I did back then. “Kirby and the Forgotten Land” throws in some new elements to keep things fresh, and it executes them well for the most part. But it still feels like coming back to a familiar place and feeling like you never left, which is exactly what I, like many others, find endearing about the series. | Read review |
WayTooManyGames | Oliver Shellding | 8.5 / 10 | 04-07-2022 | All the frill and filler is optional; you’ve got an amazing world to explore and plenty to play and see. Worth Playing | Chris "Atom" DeAngelus | 8.5 / 10 | 03-30-2022 | Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a delightful cotton candy fluff of a game. It isn't difficult or complex, but it is frequently fun and always adorable. It's almost more of a theme park ride than a platformer, but it does a great job of keeping itself engaging and interesting with a constant shift in mechanics and level design. The only flaw holding it back is the poor performance when docked, which could be a game-breaker for someone hoping for a Mario Odyssey level out of everyone's favorite pink puffball. If you enjoy Kirby, you'll enjoy Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and I'd be hard pressed to name a better choice for younger gamers. | Read review |
