2020 is almost in the books, and when all is said and done, this year will be remembered for quite a few things, both pleasant and unpleasant. It has been one hell of a ride, but one silver lining has been the phenomenal video games and game consoles released. This year saw the triumphant return of iconic franchises like Animal Crossing, a resurgent indie scene dominating sales charts and capturing our attention, and new consoles draining our wallets.

VSG’s aggregator, the MetaMeter, has been collecting and collating game reviews throughout the year – for the 2020 awards period, VSG covered 184 games and aggregated 8,651 reviews. But before 2020 comes to a close, we have one more thing to do – to issue awards recognizing gaming’s greatest achievements.

This is VSG’s 4th annual MMGA’s. To be eligible for the 2020 MMGA’s, a game must have released on or after December 1, 2019, and on or before November 30, 2020. VSG issues awards in seven categories. Nominees for awards were announced on December 8, 2020; category winners will be announced on December 14 and 15; and Game of the Year will be announced (in countdown format) on December 16, 2020.

Award announcements will be made via VSG’s Instagram page and this page will be updated afterwards. In the meantime, you can check out previous winners here.
